Peterborough United (H) Match Discussion Thread

If you can't make Tranmere's home League game against Peterborough United in Sky Bet League One on Saturday afternoon, why not join in the banter right here with other Rovers fans who are unable to attend...
Following football even at League One level is pretty expensive these days and no matter how much you love the Rovers, it will sometimes be difficult to make the games in person whether it be the lengthy away trips, or for exiles living elsewhere in the UK or abroad, the home games too.
As a result, for those fans who can't make some of the Rovers games this season, we at Total Tranmere will be providing this match discussion thread for you to discuss developments with the game.
Tranmere of course, host high-flying Peterborough United on Saturday afternoon in Sky Bet League One so if you're not going to the game why not join in the banter right here while the game is going on? You could also use this thread to discuss other interesting scores throughout the league as well as discussing this game afterwards if you have been to watch the game live.
What you discuss below is up to you but hopefully it can all be focused on one thread to make it easier for everyone to use.

We usually play well against the so called bigger teams, but I believe we will be lacking at the back.
Can't see nothing here but an away win, unfortunately.
0-3
SWA!
I don't know about the 'half'.
Oldham needs to be a chance to step up and find more of what the squad should be capable of.
Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.
after about 30 minutes i just wanted the match to finish so the scoreline couldnt get any worse - a long time since i have felt that way
its blatantly obvious we need a new back four- Foster and Horwood look very very poor I have never rated Ash Taylor or Danny Holmes (both ok for the Conference maybe) and Ian Goodison is simply past his best
Andy Robinson gave 100% as always but cant do it on his own and seems to fade after 60 or 70 minutes
Bell Baggie is undoubtedly skilful but is just too lightweight
Jason Koumas still needs to improve his fitness
Chris Atkinson disappointing today
Jean Luis has never recaptured his form of early last season
Ryan Lowe needs the service although he had a good chance today and should have at least hit the target
all that is possible is getting loan players in - it can be done - remember Gibson last year
and maybe try Sodje in defence ?
although it might be players have to be loaned out to create funds - but after today that might not be too easy
I hope the players show some grit and detemination in the next few matches and give 110% - that has to be a minimum
just to upset me further, just watched chris dagnall scoring , kevin ellison scoring 2 and adam mcgurk setting one up and scoring one !!
The thing that @#$%& me off is that Ronnie hasn't even apologised to the fans after the performance, what a minstrel!
the defence is awful, Foster is finished he can hardly run and from what ive heard wont get fit again. Horwood looks poor and is too easily beaten, Jones had a nightmare defensivly and Ash was poor. The midfield isn't provide any cover at the moment as nobody in there can win a tackle
We are in big trouble and bringing in a young centre half wont help much. We are desperate for somebody to get stuck in and win some tackles in midfield and organise the defense.

foster and taylor are non league at best, don't know what Ronnie sees in them, we will not know what jones could have done for us,horwood left exposed at the back, no ball winners in midfield, lowe should be running the width of the penalty box only. Ronnie should hold his hands up and admit he got pre season signings wrong, I know we don't have money, but there must have been better defenders and mid field players out there. cant see it getting better with the same players. Hope I'm proved wrong .
Jones will only be suspended for one match for a professional foul so he will be available if required for next Saturday. Your comment about Ash is ludicrous. We need a decent defensive midfielder first and foremost though players in that position have always attracted the most criticism from posters on sites like this.
He'd be needed back as he's 2nd cover if someone got injured but he might buy you some time, he's more than good enough for L1 and will probably become a championship regular eventually

You could try signing Shaun Brisley on a 1 month (callback allowed) deal, he can't get in the squad at the moment at posh, but he needs some match fitness and has played at championship level and done ok, he's young and cost us 500k.

any midfielders who can tackle that you could loan us?
I believe we are already in a battle at the bottom and that is what is missing from our journeymen and kids, fight!
If P'boro, had gone for it for even another 15 minutes the scoreline would have been double!
We are desperate for a couple of 'dogs of war' in midfield, A pair of centre backs who can play together. Wide midfielders who can cover our full backs and not leave them isolated. and play a system that is 21st century and then maybe, just maybe, we could, if lucky stay in this division.
The problem is our budget restraints! We can't afford jack!
The club is existing, still thinking that it is in the ninties. The matchday experience is pathetic and not even announcing the away goal scorers is so childish and petulant.
The sooner the board realises we are in the 21st century it may will be to late!

Our strongest two midfielders defensively are Jack Payne (playing tonight) who to posh fans shock, isn't getting a game, Grant McCann is keeping him out who you saw at the weekend with the set plays, Payne is never going to be let out. DM, it's the only position we definitely don't have available players for
Players who may be available for loan
Joe Newell (promising but disappointing young left winger at Championship level)
Mendez-Laing (Strong Right Winger, returned to training overweight, but played 15 mins at the weekend)
Strikers Sinclair and Ajose - Really I wouldn't bother
Others who could be available at a long shot or later in the season as loans - after xfer window closes
Shaun Brisley (Highly talented central defender)
Danny Kearns or Danny Swanson (Attack minded midfielders - left and right respectively, one started but not great against you, and one on the bench who came on who's having a good game tonight, but not long ago both were listed, may become available later in the season)
Clarke-Harris/McDonald (Young promising strikers, may not be ready for L1)
Posh are looking to shift some out
see thay (Posh) got 5 so far against 11 men !
Peterborough are a different class at the moment which makes the 0-5 easier to stomach now.
Even if your eye is on promotion, not a half decent cup run, you should not sit there when you're 4-0 down and on 3 yellows thinking it's okay to do nothing, except possibly jiggle a few pleyers on the pitch to utilise a different style of play, as I believe he had players like Mariappa and Drenthe on the bench.
Their fans will have travelled around 110 miles and payed good money to watch an inexcusable display.
Not to take anything away from Peterborough, but it is a case of two relagated sides in different dvisions and the higher division team, even if losing, shouldn't have got tonked.

Posh were in playoff form for over half the season and went down with a late goal on the last day of the season, despite losing something like 8 games in a row at the beginning of the season.
We have only lost one player and brought two players in at a cost of close to £2M
By those statistics we are a team capable of a mid/lower half finish in the championship at the very least.
Barnsley should have gone down and are not demonstrating this, when Barnsley equalised Huddersfield keeper kept the ball for 3 minutes and the players sat down on the pitch content with the draw, this is shocking behaviour, if posh had done this we'd not have conceded a goal in injury time
This puts a much smaller gap between Reading and Posh, of course no club within 1 division of one another should lose 6-0.
I'm a bit baffled at why Wolves started and are still marginal favourites, and why Leigh Griffiths is odds on, bookies are normally close, strong, a few players who are a cut above but the others going forward, look like physical bruisers who can defend, not so much class though beyond those few players.
I think I ready you have 46 players, that's shocking, and you have some class players, though you also have some terrible players would wouldn't cope with a pacey L2 striker, and you need a strong manager to sort out the Kebe's, as I am a fan of his ability.
9 changes against a team who may not be that far from your own first team was a stupid decision, hopefully you'll be able to shuffle out 15 players who aren't worth the money and bring some in by January though
I wish we hade 14,000 fans attending each match, we manage 6,000 to 9,000 typically, we haven't hit an average of 10,000 at championship level yet. I think our ground is an embarrassment compared to Tranmere too, decent seat space compared with Derby, good view, clean toilets, maybe needs a bit more options with food and things in the concourse which just needs some investment to bring it back up to scratch, still we'll have three sides rebuilt hopefully within 6 years, leaving just the main stand and offensive rent of the council.
Tranmere if they had a couple of million could give it a face lift and it'd be like a new ground just by repairs and replacement of the corrugated steel
Tranmere you don't need massive investment to move the club forward with good football, plenty of teams are managing it, but you need a team, manager and directors, who are prepared to invest at least in good quality scouts and a solid youth academy and scout network, you can reap the rewards and move forward as a team within 5 years, though I fear you need a wholesale change to get this kind of ambition, and the investment to kick start it off.
Refusing to bring in players on big wages at the end of their careers is a policy posh have done well, increases the transfer budget, but fans need to be supportive as young players have bad days.
