Notts County v Tranmere Rovers Match Discussion Thread

If you can't make Tranmere's away League game against Notts County on Saturday afternoon, why not join in the banter right here with other Rovers fans who are unable to attend...

Following football even at League One level is pretty expensive these days and no matter how much you love the Rovers, it will sometimes be difficult to make the games in person whether it be the lengthy away trips, or for exiles living elsewhere in the UK or abroad, the home games too.

As a result, for those fans who can't make some of the Rovers games this season, we at Total Tranmere will be providing this match discussion thread for you to discuss developments with the game.

Stadium - Notts County

Tranmere of course, travel to Notts County in Sky Bet League One on Saturday afternoon so if you're not going to the game why not join in the banter right here while the game is going on?  You could also use this thread to discuss other interesting scores throughout the league as well as discussing this game afterwards if you have been to watch the game live.

What you discuss below is up to you but hopefully it can all be focused on one thread to make it easier for everyone to use.

Predicting a score these days is almost impossible. With our defence anything is possible. For the same reason i fear that the prospects of defeat must be high when added to a midfield that does not create, does not win balls and hence a forward line starved of opportunity.

County are a poor side but it is hard to really feel that we can win.Yet a couple of additions of quality would make this just the sort of game where 3 points could be taken

Whatever people may say about money and sticking up for ronnie, it is time for a change its not just this season but the end of last.
It may not work changing manager but also its not working with the present one, if this was barnes or parry alot more would be calling for his head, its time to remove the ronnie rose tinted glasses folks.

Something has to change, that is for sure. Lowe can score goals but the way Tranmere play doesn't feed him the chances. I couldn't make the ame but the BBC stats showed that there were few efforts on goal from Tranmere. last season we were having more than 15 attempts even away from home.

I am now down to "at least we are above Sheffield United' the only positive beyond possible return of Wallace and Koumas. Oops, just saw the table. Bristol City and Coventry helped us to get out of bottom 4.

I'm in my 50s but feel like volunteering for a defensive position.

Division 2 2014/2015 - End

As I left the ground I said to some of the locals 'see you in Division 2 next year'. Notts were just appalling but we were indescribably bad=NO FIGHT,NO BOTTLE,NO GUTS,NO COHESION just an absolute shambles from start to finish. Truly the worst performance I've seen for a very long time-over on the other side of the pitch a figure stood arms folded mainly motionless as usual!!
I would absolve Hateley and to a lesser extent Max and JLAA
from most of the criticism but none of the others were fit to wear the shirt.
The kids game at half time had far more entertainment than the main event.County had by far the best player on the pitch in Grealish but amazingly he was not awarded their MOM.

It's games like this that make me despair and pretty angry. If I can make the effort to go why can't they make the effort to play well and hopefully win.

Anyway, I'm away next week so won't have to suffer either of the home games.Good luck to those of you who do.

It's a poor unnacceptable result and Ronnie needs to start thinking of something more proactive to do with the team, so that he John Mc and they can start to create better chances of winning.

Thr sort of players they've got, they can do better than a limp 2-0 defeat against a limp team like County.

Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.

The kind of players Rovers have is the cause of the results.Rejects from the likes of Forest Green Green,Harlepool,Scunthorpe and Rochdale combined with players over the hill. There seems to be a mythology about the potential of our squad that has no grounding in evidence. The defence is poor and the midfield lacks the balance of creativity and defensive qualities. It is difficult to judge the forwards as sevice is so poor.
Pre season there was a silly level of optimism from some of our supporters. Players like Koumas and Robinson where excellent at their peak but now their names are better than their performances.

Moore has not brought in well this summer but with the budget he has it was inevitable that at some point we would be exposed. Changing the manager will not change the root cause of the problems at the club. We will have the same board and the same limbo in planning as all priorities are built around the owners wish to leave with as much of his investment intact. That is not a criticism of PJ but any critique of our situation is meaningless if it goes no further than the managers role

Yesterday's debacle was totally different to the Brentford game as you would have seen if you were there. However as I am away next week I look forward to reading your reviews of the two games.

I was totally embarrassed on Saturday. I'd persuaded a friend from Nottingham to come to the match with me. He's not a big football fan, but does keep an eye on the scores.
It was obvious from the first few minutes that a goal was likely to be scored, and that it would come from their left wing. Our young midfiled have lots of energy and enthusiasm, in fact "headless chickens" springs to mind, but what has been needed for the last month is SHAPE and DISCILPINE. Assuming Rowe was playing wide right he was every where but wide right. I felt sorry for Hateley, he must have thought he was using the wrong deodorant. Once the message got to the players and they started keeping more of a shape, our two lines of 4 merged more often into a line of 8, leaving far too much space between our front two and the defensive line. I was hoping that we would really go at County, as their confidence should have been very low after losing 6 from 7 this season. No, we allowed them time and space for the first 20 minutes and they looked like Barcelona. From the 20th minute I thought we got back into the game, but didn't really threaten enough. Unfortunately I think Fonners was at fault on both goals. The first one saw a header back from the back post which was only about 3 yards from his line, but he just didn't go for it. We all know the six yard area is one of his weaknesses, and I'm amazed how little he has improved in this part of his game. The secong goal was down to his other big failing (IMO), distribution. I couldn't imagine what he was thinking about when he threw the ball straight to the County player. I guess it was meant for Baggie, but it was no where near good enough to get to him.

The only saving item for me on Saturday was that the fish and chip supper we had later that evening was great. On the whole it was a real waste of 6 hours and £70. I'm feeling full of dread for Wednesday - a real "snotting" could be on the board.
