Tranmere Rovers v Crewe Alexandra Match Discussion

By Deadly Submarine
January 24 2014

If you can't make Tranmere's game at home to Crewe Alexandra on Saturday, why not join in the banter right here with other Rovers fans who are unable to attend...

Following football even at League One level is pretty expensive these days and no matter how much you love the Rovers, it will sometimes be difficult to make the games in person whether it be the lengthy away trips, or for exiles living elsewhere in the UK or abroad, the home games too.

As a result, for those fans who can't make some of the Rovers games this season, we at Total Tranmere will be providing this match discussion thread for you to discuss developments with the game.

Tranmere of course, host Crewe Alexandra on Saturday in Skybet League One, so if you're not going to the game why not join in the banter right here while the game is going on?  You could also use this thread to discuss other interesting scores throughout the league as well as discussing this game afterwards if you have been to watch the game live.

What you discuss below is up to you but hopefully it can all be focused on one thread to make it easier for everyone to use.

For a change, we have to be in their faces, not sit back on our 18 yd box, trying to play counter-attacking football, (which we don't do very well). Cos if we don't, they will pass it to death and we won't see the ball.

4-4-2, defensive high line, create pressure, have a go at them.

Can't see it thou!

Lose 2-0

Hard games coming up against teams in form. I'm worried.

My thoughts too after that shower we just had. Don't think our pitch would cope with anymore rain today.

Best of two poor teams(in our eyes) won but three points is three points and in our position we need them..

Thought we were decent enough today and I think some comments I've seen have been a little harsh on the visitors.

They weren't the best, far from it, but they looked dangerous going forward in numbers at times and I thought we defended well.

Had Crewe equalised it wouldn't have been totally undeserved but I felt at the same time us winning also wasn't undeserved.

I think Crewe staff and their fans should be ashamed of those three blatant dives in the space of two minutes in the second half though. Terrible.

thought first half was the best performance of the season for us. Passed it about well, looked dangerous. 2nd half got a bit scrappy at times, but the wind didnt help. Crewe looked good at times going fowards, but we contained them well. Think Authurworrey is a quality defender, and works with Ash perfectly. SWA

A decent result in the circumstances and the main thing is that only two teams can displace Tranmere on Tuesday night if they get a favourable result, os there's no chance by Wednesday morning Tranmere can go into the drop zone.

A vital result and a step in the right direction.

Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.

The result was the ONLY thing that mattered-it was the most important game of the season. Therefore it was far more than a 'decent result in the circumstances'.

Was never going to be a really good game with 2 struggling teams and very bad conditions, it was an ok game and most importantly we got the win.

Thought the back 4 was fairly solid Koumas had a decent game in midfield but there were only flashes of decent link up play from the front 2 but with Wallace back and some of the injured players close to returning things starting look up a bit

for 60 mins we played will passed it around and didnt hoof that much. but instead of going for the second i felt we sat back to early and we could of easily scored 1 or 2 more because crewe were not great in defence today

Does anyone understand what happened that the referee was changed at half time? I thought the ref was pretty shocking in the first half, but I've never seen a ref subbed just for being poor...

Can only assume he was injured.

It appears they plucked Mike Dean out of the crowd to be 4th Official though which is unusual as normally an injured ref would take up the 4th Official role.

Maybe he was I'll rather than injured?

Towards the end of the half he started limping and rubbing his right thigh.

Never really noticed the ref just thought the used grecian 2000 on his hair to darken the grey at half time.(Sm124)

He pulled a muscle just before half time. I thought Mr Mathieson [the first half ref] was okay-the guy who took over had more contentious decisions to make. Fortunately he didn't fall for the 3 Crewe 'dives' in the penalty area in that short period of the second half.
