Rovers’ new Manager brands himself a “lucky guy” after being handed the Rovers Manager’s position this morning…..

Tranmere’s newly appointed man at the helm Rob Edwards has spoken of his delight at being handed the Rovers’ hotseat during his first press conference this morning and says he has been given a "fantastic opportunity" to take charge of the Club.

Meeting the media at Prenton Park for the first time this morning following the announcement earlier today that he is Tranmere’s new gaffer, the former Wales international spoke about his plans for the future in his new job. The Tranmere Rovers Official Website reports that Edwards said….

"I would like to thank everyone at the club for this fantastic opportunity. I've worked hard for this chance and feel I've been ready to manage for some time. I'm ready to put into practice the skills I've learned from 25 years in the game that has seen me work with, and learn from, some superb managers and excellent players.”

"I believe I can develop a team at Tranmere Rovers the whole Club, and the whole of Wirral can be proud of. My aim is to make sure we are challenging at the top end of the table, as well as setting up a structure to produce more home grown players.”

"I've played at Prenton Park many times and always found it a tough place to play, with the fans really backing their team with passion and support. That experience has stuck with me and I want to make this a difficult place to come once again. I'm looking to move the club forward with an attacking brand of high-energy football and I can't wait to get started."

"I'm very privileged to manage a club that has done very well over the years and can go forward.  The last few years I've worked with a group of young players and got them into the first team at Exeter, we ended up getting eight homegrown players into the first team. That's the way we want to go in the long term but in the short term it's about the Club being at the top end of the league this year and having a team that people around the Club can be proud of.”

"It's a fantastic opportunity, I've looked at the playing staff and there's players like Jason Koumas, talented players to work with. I see myself as a lucky guy to get this job.”

“Fans want to see a certain type of football and that is chances on goal, a high energy and a positive style. The players have got to start quickly and get the supporters behind them, then you can feed off each other."

Sounds a bit nervy, on his interview but that's to be expected!!
Seems keen and clearly relishing getting started at least we've for what we wanted, a young, keen proven coach(some extent) lets get behind him and get back to winning ways!

A bold and brave appointment, we all need to give him as much support as we can to achieve his and our goal.
well done Jeremy and the board. Ambition is what the club needed and now it appears we have it, onward and upward - Who needs Ryan Lowe, maybe a few of those Exeter youngsters may choose to follow him

Jeremy. I would like to think I echo everyones thoughts by saying to you. Sorry.. Think most of us, including myself, jumped on your back a little to quick. Can't believe you've employed a manager who I will be honest in saying i'd never heard of 6 hours ago and feel this good about Tranmere future. Very clever Jeremy, very clever indeed.

Leave him alone lol. Gary that is. Funny tho. Think even the most critical of us would find it hard not to be pleased about today. A message to all Tranmere fans, including myself. Lets look a today as being a fresh start. Lets all stick together and get behind Mr Edwards and co from now on. Whether we like it or not McMahon ect are still going playing a part with the running of the club for the foreseeable future. He needs to be given a chance like today is day one for him. No more name calling. No more unnecessary comments, especially not personal. Won't mention names but those who read this post can decided for themselves whether this applies to them or not.

In a nutshell Superwhite73, you have got it spot on.

To all the moaners, stop it,and start looking forward to Aug

There is still a lot of hard work to be done, of course, but the process has started.

For the first time in months I for one am feeling , dare I say it,positive.

Let's hope those who recently got a season ticket refund will be made to regret it too!

Fingers crossed

Think we've got to understand why people did get a refund on their season tickets and forgive them for it. Been so hard of late not to be angry with the goings on at Tranmere. Like ive said. Treat today as day one, a fresh start and lets all stick together. SWA
