Right, I've stopped swearing and have calmed down now.
Fonners- Kicking was wayward but apart from that had little to do and saves well towards the end.
Donacien- Fantastic. Rampaged forward, won his headers and looked like our only real threat in the first half.
Hollness- Was generally solid, questionable as to whether he should have tracked Barnard for their second.
Ihiekwe- Conceded the own goal and a poor header for their second, but was great in the air and showed excellent character especially in scoring that winner. Sorry equaliser.
Holmes- Worked so hard. Was good defensively but not as good going forward as he has been recently.
Power- Great improvement. Looked lively and sprayed some lovely cross-field passes about. Good deliveries and was creative.
Laird- Worked well for the team. Won some good headers and put himself about, but offered nothing going forward.
Jennings- Played his heart out. Got stuck in, challenged well in the air and a thunderbolt to get us back in the game.
Johnson- Wasn't his type of game. Too much aerial stuff and didn't really get a sniff in the box. Showed some good touches and composure though.
Odejayi- Poor. Was partly the refs fault as the Stevenage defenders were pulling him all over the place, but offered no threat at all and his touch was poor.
Gnanduillet- Also quite poor. Put himself about but didn't really attack crosses or create anything.
Ridealgh- Looked like a threat on the left, some terrible crosses but generally did well.
Richards- Came looking for the ball which was exactly what we needed and looked positive.
Donnelly- Worked hard and worried their defence more than Odejayi.
People are welcome to disagree and I may also be wearing rose coloured spectacles as I was so happy that that di*k Westley didn't win.

A shocking game played by two shocking teams with a shocking referee and other officials. It was like all in wrestling at times.I thought that there was a campaign in the press to outlaw this-well nobody's told Mr Stockbridge or quite a number of the players on the pitch.

Their thug of a coach who's got form here for his past appalling conduct, managed to cost them the win today by getting himself sent to the stands for his 'altercation' with Jennings in added on time-we equalised during the extra bit added on as a result.

A typical Westley team-anti football-wasting time,play acting and rolling over 'injured' at every opportunity apart from all the wrestling.


As for us-Jennings IMO was by far our best player.Donacien played very well too but let's forget the rest. Danny was injured in the first couple of minutes but battled on gamely with possibly restricted mobility[part of this being caused by the fact that their player Whelpdale[no 7] held him down almost every time they jumped for the ball].

The two big strikers were both atrocious-big mistake by Adams to play them both.I can see why the Chesterfield fans don't seem too keen to have Armand G back.Odejayi was just a waste of a shirt continuously fouling their players regularly giving away freekicks thus relieving any pressure on their defence. Johnson tried hard but it wasn't really his type of game.

Having said that,it was almost like a win when we equalised so late. I was glad it was Ihiekwe who scored because over the season so far,he has been by far our best centre back,but today his two errors[unlucky for the first] had gifted them both of their goals.


My one highlight of the day-shaking the great man's hand at the end and telling him it was lovely to see him at the game. When I have a bath later,I will only wash my left hand.

Power was my Man of the Match followed by Jennings.

The important thing is the determination not give in.

Frustrating about it being another draw, but it's pulled the team a little closer to a few teams and it will only be a matter of time before a few wins start coming and a win next time could see them climb 3 places and hopefully it happens.

We haven't won in the league since August 30th and the next game is away at Luton.There is already a 3 point gap between us and the next team above us. You say ''frustrating about it being another draw''-it was so nearly another defeat.There was wild celebration when we equalised.

First match of the season, great to see the bronze statue and see Mr King in the Directors Box.
1st half was forgetable from both teams.
Changed the formation in 2nd half and we played a lot better.
Although we had all the possession in the 2nd half it didn't look like we were going to score.
When we went 2-0 down after a defensive error (yet again), we showed great character to come back.
Excellent strike by Jenno and when the Chesterfield lad missed that free header at the death, thought our last chance had gone.
Based on 2nd half performance, Max was my MOM, all our creativity coming from him.
The Chesterfield lad was poor today and I think Odejayi only started today because of the opposition. He was constantly pushing his marker but got nothing from the ref.
I can guarantee he will not be starting next week, hope Richards gets a chance.
On Stevenage, what a disgrace they are; bullies, time wasters and constantly breaking up play but that sums up Westley in a nutshell

Also the refs in league 2 are shocking but they are consistent inmho they don't seem to influence the outcome a much as in higher leagues their poor decisions don't favour either side

The refs in league 2 are taken from the same pool as those in the Championship and Div 1 They are no better or worse. I am usually a supporter of refs as they have a hard job. But today's was just woeful-the worst I have seen for some time. As I said earlier,it was like a wrestling match for much of the time.

True about the pool but last year if heard of maybe 25% of the refs this year so far just Andy Durso there must be a selection process

Eliot Richards - OUCH!



On Micky's post match, he was asked about Eliot Richards.
His comment was "I have looked at the boy and he has a long way to go before he gets in my side".


Pretty strong indication that all is not well with him.




If that is true,I find it unbelievable and it casts doubt on my opinion of him[Adams]. . The two big strikers today were both truly atrocious. Richards is tons better than either of them.

What's the lad done wrong? Works hard, comes and gets the ball, agree hoots miles better than any of our other strikers perhaps bar Cole when he's firing.

It would appear that Adams DID say it- astounding. Compounds the error of playing the two big strikers up front together yesterday.

Richards lets himself down every game, making runs onto his left foot - he hasn't got one , has to check back and loses impetus of attack.
Why oh why when we attack do we all stand in a line, miss one miss them all. And we do the ref a favour, as it is so crowded as he can't see any 'grappling'.
Loved their free kick first half, we all line up for the cross on the right so they slip it in the channel on the left.

As for the second goal, Holness could have ducked , or flicked it back, but appears to have no confidence in him. Yes a very poor header as a result, but when Barnard got the ball (on his own and no team mates in sight) did OFW close him down and narrow the angle........no moved to his near post and gave him a huge area to target......which he did!

At least Richards makes runs. Did you see any of the THREE forwards that started make one run? I certainly didn't.

He should start the Luton game with the side that finished yesterday
