A Decade of Service to Rovers Fans

By Total Tranmere
November 24 2014

This website is today marking its tenth anniversary of providing news and views to Rovers fans across the UK and much further afield…

Today marks a landmark for the Total Tranmere Website as we celebrate ten years of existence and of providing a news and views service for Rovers fans everywhere.

Started on 24th November 2004 by Ross Quayle, the site was stumbled across just a few days later by Deadly Submarine and with his immediate offer of help with the fledgling site an editorial team was soon formed.  Deadly Submarine immediately took on the role of match reporter for the site and his first offering was a report on Tranmere’s pretty poor 3-1 away defeat on a cold Tuesday night in early December.

In its infancy an extremely small community built up on the message forum with just four or five regular contributors to the debate but as time went on this increased dramatically and whilst it’s not as busy in 2014 as it was in its peak, the site is much busier than those very early days.

In its time Total Tranmere has been involved in locally high profile events including being the catalyst for a petition started to try and keep Calvin Zola in the country and with the Club when he had Visa problems.  Ross started off the online petition and after publicising it through Total Tranmere and even through local radio and press, ended up with one of the local on MP’s fighting the campaign which eventually resulted in the best outcome for Zola.

Stadium - Tranmere Rovers (Day)

As the website grew in popularity it also became the basis for a social hub as a fans football team made up of message forum members and some of their friends soon followed, playing their first game in May 2005 and still just about together today under the guise of Total Tranmere FC.  A number of forum members also hired a minibus and travelled down to Swansea for the first ever League game to be played at the Liberty Stadium on the opening day of the 2005/06 season.

Both sides missed a penalty as Adebayo Akinfenwa’s 30th minute goal gave the Swans a 1-0 win but the day out was a memorable one indeed.  By this time Ross Quayle had moved on and the site was in the hands of Deadly Submarine as it still is today.

In more recent years as the admin team began to have other commitments the site has become a little less active but changes are afoot as we enter 2015 and hopefully the site can thrive once again in the future after already witnessing many ups and downs following Rovers since the site began ten years ago today!

Thanks must go to everyone who has assisted the site over the past ten years particularly Ross for beginning it all and Mikey for a lot of help over a number of years.  Matthew Jones has also been another big contributor well worthy of mention.  Here’s to another ten years……

Only been using the site for the last few years, its that good it's turned into part of my daily routine, always find 5-10 min to read thread's and post's. Its the best source of information about Tranmere available, great to have a point of contact with like minded people (well most of them anyway). That's what a debate is all about though, the odd difference in opinion but all agree on one thing. We all love Tranmere Rovers, why I'll never know, especially at the moment ha ha. Thanks Sub and all others involved.
