COME ON YOU MIGHTY WHITES

Personally, I think he offers something different - Kirby and Molyneux very similar (yes different feet) but Adams has shown a propensity to ask his wide men to switch wings regardless of whether left or right footed

League 2 side we did really well against them. I listened to the commentary, wasn't there.
On a positive we played some of the best passing football I have seen for years in the first half, looked comfortable even at 2-1.
Overall a very good game of football, Pompey were out of it for the first hour but once we lost Josh they looked the most likely to score.
Missed the first 15 minutes due to the most stupid ticket system I've ever come across, why do clubs insist on having the away supporters ticket office at the opposite end of the ground, 3 kiosks only one for away, very frustrating.
Play like this on Saturday and its 3 points.
Like previous posters on this site I often wonder why the hell I put myself through this. Damn you Dad.
I have to admit that injuries probably did not help as we lost 2 key defenders, but everyone seems to be on Micky's back.
Yes, he could have maybe brought on a different player, but surely the players need to take the blame here?
A lot of our players are just not winners. Its plain and simple. Far too many of them lose their heads as soon as things do not go their way.
I still think we will stay up (just), but when the summer comes around a MASSIVE clear out is needed and the squad needs rebuilding. And I am sorry but if that means shipping out our so called better players so be it.
Power, in my head, is not professional enough to do the job even at this level. He started scoring and playing well when the Transfer Window came around, and since the end of January he has been poor (not on his own granted).
I said i would give Micky until next season when he can build a settled team of his own in the Summer and start fresh.
At this current time the only 2 players i would keep are Danny Holmes and Rory Donnelly (if we can get him next season on loan).
On a different note, a massive applause is needed for the hardy fans who made the trip to the south coast. You deserved more than what happened in the last 15mins
Prepare for the flack - you can accept shortcomings in ability, especially at this level, but you don't need to be Messi to give your all
Now Portsmouth, not the best results, dodgy tactics that led to the GOALS, it would be different if it was just one, but three in nine?! That can only be tactics. But you can't get on his back, after all, who on earth would take us on now?! Someone who has been there, done that, got the t-shirt and back to back promotions is at our club right now, so who else would you want to take us on? Mourinho (as far as I know) has never had a relegation-threatened team to manage, so he's out the window.
Just get behind the team 100%, the players who aren't good enough know who they are, and they know they won't be working for us next season. All they'll be doing now is trying to preserve some sort of ability to make sure they only go down one league next season instead of seeing them in Birkenhead Park on a Sunday.
Back the team, back the manager. Any mistake anyone makes from now until the end of the season will make even more difference than if it had happened at the beginning.
We've got 14 games left. Win One, Draw One, Lose One, thats 12 points. 46 point total will keep us up, JUST. Make sure we out the kids out against the top teams and make sure we win against the teams around us, sorted.
That said, we managed to do exactly the same against Cheltenham earlier in the season 2.0 at half time and we were blown away with 3 goals in a similar 15 minute period.
If the Cheltenham game on Saturday wasn't already a must win game it certainly is now.

I for one can not believe we lost that game. Although the way this team has been this season i am not surprised.

The players have to take some of the blame for sure (as was the case at York as well). A lot of people are saying that we did OK for 75 minutes until we conceded first but for me from our early second half goal onwards their goal was coming for quite a long time. The injuries didn't help (Thompson and Taylor had both looked really good) but at the same time it's too easy for the players and staff to use that as an excuse for what unfolded.
Yet again their are mistakes to be learned from by everyone involved and hopefully we can get through to the end of the season safely before taking stock - other changes before then may be more disruptive but lessons seem to continually need to be learned which is what grates the most.

Prior to the game most of us would have taken a point due to pompey's generally good home record but, to be 2.0 up with less than 15 minutes left and lose 3.2 is totally unacceptable.
That said, we managed to do exactly the same against Cheltenham earlier in the season 2.0 at half time and we were blown away with 3 goals in a similar 15 minute period.

Totally agree. Just like Newport the other week I'd have taken a point beforehand but as with that game and last night I ended up frustrated we didn't win.
If we can get a draw at Cheltenham I suppose four points from the three games (especially one against the leaders of the League at the time) isn't too bad a return. The difference with Saturday is that the chance to pull away and further condemn Cheltenham is an opportunity we really shouldn't miss!
That's no slight intended to Donnelly or Ihiekwe, but you're obviously going to have to change the formation to accommodate the extra defensive player and although the system wasn't creating many chances, because bar the one Power fluffed late on, the team managed to score both goals with the only 2 previous shots they'd had in the game, but Portsmouth weren't getting a hat load of chances themselves.
Tranmere had a sort of free pass, as losing meant none of the three teams below, who are close enough to make things difficult for Tranmere could capitalise, so therefore to make the team more defensive like that seemed like Adams bottled it after the first goal went in and got a bit jumpy in his own mind and yet he mentioned the injuries to defensive players, but nothing I could find about his decision to switch Donnelly for Ihekwe and not Hume.
Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.

Where's the sit back and wait topic I put on last night have I missed something ? I've been in work all day and not been online what happened ?
It was there earlier. Don't know where it's gone. Sometimes threads on a similar theme[ie a match]get amalgamated but this doesn't seem to be the case here.

Sorry only just seen these messages. As Hoots said it was a merging process earlier on of about four different Pompey related threads but the one mentioned above hasnt re-appeared as part of this main thread.
I'll try to see if the Network guys can recover it. Apologies for the merging but it just keeps things together although I did keep the Radio Merseyside one seperate as I felt this was of use to people asking questions about Tranmere Player. Hope that's OK with you all!
l thought I had missed a rant from Adams........Quote:Deadly Submarine

I hope it can be recovered because it was IMO probably the most interesting of the four threads. Is there another one missing because there only seem to be two titles merged onto this longer thread?

I think the other one was the Radio Merseyside one Hoots. I originally merged that one into here too but then changed my mind and unmerged it - perhaps that's where this problem has come from.
Any luck yet with the missing thread?
