One-on-One: Burton Albion Fan Interview

Continuing our new pre-match feature, John Lee talks to Burton Albion fan Stacey ahead of Tranmere's home game against the League leaders on Saturday afternoon.....  

JL:  What do you know about Tranmere Rovers?

S:  I have vague memories of Tranmere beating Derby County a lot in the 90's!

JL:  Do you have a Tranmere player that stands from over the years?  Past or present?

S:  Hmm.....probably John Aldridge, pretty prolific (again another 90's memory!)

JL:  You have been in the mix all season.  Do you expect to win the league?

S:  If we carry on playing as a solid team with the fighting spirit we showed tonight (Ed: The midweek game against Southend Utd) - absolutely.

JL:  Did you want Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink to begin with and have the fans taken to him?  You seem to by flying under him!

S:  I think any team would be privileged to have Jimmy as their manager, his determination and discipline has made him instantly popular with fans

JL:  Who has been your star man of recent weeks?  Who should we be watching out for on Saturday?

S:  Tom Naylor for me.  He's worked hard & deserves his place in the starting line up now, he's strong, dependable and solid.

JL:  Adam McGurk and Robbie Weir both had a decent impact at Tranmere Rovers.  How do you asses them in a Burton shirt?

S:  McGurk is a classic confidence player - he flourishes when given the opportunity.  Weir is a fixture in the side now, a real asset.

JL:  Shane Cansdell-Sherriff and Lucas Akins both also played for Tranmere. Probably had less of an impact.  How are they getting on?

S:  Cansdell-Sherriff is a real grafter, works and works, very dependable. Lucas's pace is unrivalled in League 2, nice few goals this season too!

JL:  How have you got on away from home against the struggling sides?

S:  I think we've lost focus a couple of times - the late win at Hartlepool for example, we shouldn't rest on our laurels that's for certain.

JL:  Prediction for Saturday?  You must be very confident, especially after your comeback on Wednesday night.

S:  I think we'll be undoubtedly confident after tonight, we showed real grit and determination.  I'm going for a 2-0 win!

JL:  Prediction for where both clubs will finish and would you like to see Tranmere survive?

S:  I think Burton will win the League and I hope Tranmere manage to dig in deep and stay up, it'll be a fight but I think they can win it.  Just!
