One-on-One: Stevenage Fan Interview
By John Lee
April 2 2015
Continuing our new pre-match feature, John Lee talks to Stevenage fan Matt Wilson ahead of Tranmere's away game against Graham Westley's side.....
JL: What comes to mind when you hear the name Tranmere Rovers?
MW: A below average football team based in League 2
JL: Ouch. Although it's pretty accurate, I suppose! Do any Tranmere players, past or present, stick in your memory?
MW: Ryan Lowe was a stand out player for you. Good physical presence and an out and out striker
JL: You have coped much better with relegation for League 1 than we have. What do you put that down to?
MW: Signed some star players that have stood out such as Dean Wells and Tom Pett. Also developed our youth players such as Ben Kennedy
JL: Despite only winning one of your last four games, you're still right in the mix for promotion. Do you fancy your chances of getting in the play offs?
MW: Yes, I believe that we have a good chance to prove ourselves in the next few games. The next two games are must wins then we can push onwards.
JL: Graham Westley has a reputation for putting strong physical teams together. Is that how you'd describe the current crop?
MW: Our team do have a physical presence but aren't the tallest bunch. They are strong in winning tackles and pushing forward to win games
JL: He's in his third spell with you now. What keeps bringing him back!?
MW: The fighting spirit of the lads during his first spell with us just gave him the passion to come back and manage us again
JL: Who has been your star man of recent weeks? Anyone we should we be looking out for?
MW: The whole team are in fantastic form and all playing well. Tom Pett, Bira Dembele and Chris Day are our main stand out players
JL: Calvin Zola had a great spell with us many years ago. How is he getting on at Stevenage?
MW: He's been hit with quite a lot of injury problems which have stopped him becoming a very good player for us
JL: You also have Danny Johnson on loan from Cardiff. We had him earlier this season. What's the story there?
MW: He's a very good striker just hasn't been able to break into the starting 11 due to the great form of our players
JL: How have you got on at home against the struggling sides? Any chance of complacency creeping in?
MW: We have a good home record and don't lose many. It is tough for teams to come to us and get a result but it is possible for the lower sides.
JL: Prediction for the game on Friday?
MW: 3-1 to the Boro
JL: Prediction for where both clubs will finish and would you like to see Tranmere survive?
MW: Top 7 for the Boro and Tranmere to scrape safety on the last day
JL: Fantastic! I'll take that. Any away-friendly pubs or places worth visiting around the ground?
MW: Unfortunately not I'm afraid but there is a massive retail park opposite the ground where there is a Burger King and Pizza Hut

Thanks to Matt Wilson (@Matt_Wilson1998) for stepping in so late. I'd been let down by a couple of people so this was very much appreciated.
