With the 2014/15 League Two season now into it's final five matches, our match discussion thread returns as Rovers prepare to travel to face Southend United on Saturday.  Tranmere are of course going into the game on the back of a 1-0 home defeat to Luton Town on Easter Monday which followed teo successive draws against AFC Wimbledon and Stevenage and will be looking to bounce back immediately.

I believe we will lose, they don't lose many at home, and we concede too many. The fat lady's getting in tune!!

The fat lady can shove a hamburger in her mush and take a seat for now. she probably got fat eating too many of those things anyway, amongst other fat inducing food items.

I think 1-0

Another nail in the coffin, 3-1 Southend.

a narrow defeat or a draw, neither is of any use to us, i just hope results around us go our way and were not adrift

I know that we need wins but I would take a draw from this but I anticipate a 2-0 defeat particularly if the defence remains unchanged

Southend fan here in peace.

Big game for both clubs, we're trying to get as close as we can to 3rd spot but I do think we will miss out on this and have to settle for a play-off spot instead.

It will be a very tricky game for us as we seem to struggle at home against (no disrespect) the teams nearer the bottom of the table.

Do you think you will come down looking for the win or very cautious?

At home we don't concede many, our Keeper Dan Bentley hasn't conceded a goal for 9 games in a row at home.

Its going to be a tough game against you fighter for your lives but I am hoping for a 2 nil win with around 6.5k there.

Not too keen on Phil Brown then?

I do think he's decent enough but he makes some very bizarre tactic changes and very strange subs as well.

He's reasonibly popular with the fans but the above tends to grate on people as his decisions have cost us points on a few occassions this season, most recently when 1 up away at Burton to throw it away to lose 2-1 in the dying seconds.

back in the late 80`s and early 90`s there was a massive rivalry between us and bolton, culminating in us finishing 5 points behind them and then beating them in 1991 play off final, he was their captain, there was all sorts of afters them saying we wernt very sporting after the win, and he was one of the main ones gobbing off, never liked him since

I never knew that, sounds a bit like him to want to talk a lot. He's always on talk sport and other radio shows like that and loves having a weekly blog in the local echo etc. He does think a lot of himself so I agree with you there.

Always a fun fixture for me as being Southend born and bred but having lived on Wirral for over 20 years. I can't recall a nil all draw before so that's my prediction for Saturday. No good really for either side. My heart stays with Southend though hoping for play off joy in May.

Phil Brown is a decent manager and comes across as an okay bloke, but no matter what he is like a 1-0 is all that is needed to get Tranmere 3 points and if Southend must be the recipients of a loss to Tranemre so be it.

When I think of Southend,I always remember the song by the Kursaal Flyers called ''Little Does She Know''with its amusing lyrics such as:-

When she finished her laundry she was all in a quandary
And made it for the street like a hare
Her escape was so urgent, she forgot her detergent
And dropped all her clean underwear

The more people who expect us to win this the more I fear we will lose. I hate this question but I am genuinely curious on how many you will bring down what with reduced travel costs?

Don't hold out much hope against a team who have only conceded 9 goals at home in the league, just can't see our forward line smashing that record to pieces most of the time they don't know where the goal is never mind getting the ball to put in to the net.

2-0 defeat for us and as Micky will say on Monday he saw some positives in the game.

2-0 loss for me. The losing habit is now firmly entrenched. I foresee us going into the last game in the same position as last year and going out with a loss anyway.

I fear that I will now need to educate the unbelievers in South Africa about the Conference. It is already so hard explaining where League 2 fits in.

The prospect of two mid fielders being out does not help our chances. On the other hand, on the theory of returners to old clubs, it may open the door for Laird sneaking a last minute undeserved winner.

Green, Hume and Dugdale are ill - apparently with the same symptoms as Max had last week so there seems to be a virus in the camp.

Why rubbish because they lost? Southend had 1 more shot than Tranmere and 1 more shot on target, so Tranmere must have been competitive, not least as they had a bit more possession.

I no longer care about how well we play anymore - it's about getting the results at this stage and yet again we didn't.

We have to hope we do on Tuesday that's for sure!

Thought I would let you know my thoughts on the game.

Firstly we never ever score from corners and I remember one of you saying that you were weak at defending corners.

I didn't think we deserved 3 points, we played the worse we have all season and barely had a shot, thankfully we took it!

You had maybe 4 chances and none easier than the chance your number 9 had early on in the game where even couldnt believe how bad our defending was.

Unfortunately for you, even though you had decent chances no one really came near to putting them away and like I read on here this seems to be your problem.

Was surprised to see your number 4 go off and your fans reaction was that you weren't very happy about it. But I think I heard he wasn't totally fit.

Interesting comments from your gaffer after the games saying Phil Brown was talking bollocks after he was told that Brown had said he noticed you didn't have someone covering your front posts at corners. Adams denied this and said that you need, I watched the goal again and you didn't. This would worry me if I were you, Adams not knowing whats going on and not being very organised. Surely he should know this?

Anyway best of luck, I hope you stay up.

Adams should know this but it's one of many things regarding defending at set pieces that he apparently doesn't. And that's just one thing of many that have got us where we are.

Cheers Matty-good luck to your lot.
