Bury (H) Match Discussion

By Deadly Submarine
April 30 2015

A place for fans of both Rovers and Bury to discuss Saturday afternoon's upcoming match at Prenton Park as Rovers host automatic promotion chasing Bury in the final game of the season.......

With the 2014/15 League Two season coming to an end, our match discussion thread returns for one last time in the Football League as Rovers prepare to host local rivals Bury, who are still in with a chance of automatic promotion, at Prenton Park on Saturday afternoon.  Tranmere are of course already relegated from League Two following last weekend's defeat away at Plymouth Argyle but will be looking to stop Bury securing the final automatic promotion spot.

Whether you are unable to make the game for any reason, or even if you are attending, this is the place to discuss all the pre-match build up including team line-up and score predictions, events during the match itself and all the post match fall-out and analysis.   The thread is open to fans of both sides to discuss the events surrounding the game so if you haven't got a Message Forum accounts yet then why not sign up now?

During the game, Total Tranmere will also be providing Live score updates from Prenton Park via our Facebook and Twitter accounts so if you don't already do so, why not follow us why not do it right now so you don't forget later!  Just click on the two links above to go to our Social Media accounts.

Starting 11 based on not picking the kids and letting them take a hiding from Bury and carrying the can for the 'professionals' which have let the club down. Those involved have at least given something at times this season or likely to be here next time around.

Thankfully can say good riddence to the bunch of donkeys who sent us down. Bring on new 11 players. Not one was worth playing for club in last 2 seasons.

thought the lad had a good game but you will always try and blame someone I really think some people don't go to watch but what I did notice we can not score goals even to save our lives

There was only one decent move in the whole game-and Bury scored the goal from it. We would still have had nil if we'd have been playing now.

A big portion of next seasons budget must b for a proven non league striker the amount of times we not scored in a game is unbelievable !!

I would think the sort of players that could be spared too much grief across the whole season, would be people like Hill, Holmes and Fon Williams, but I doubt many others could.

Although Rory Donnelly being played sometimes out of position and not used enough after he initially started scoring and players like Hume and Koumas not getting enough action even when on the bench, might be permitted less criticism than some as well.

Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.

We're going to need a few decent goal scorers if we're to get out of this league at the first attempt.

Reckon we'll need to score about 90+ goals and conceded less than half of that based on this years champions Barnet who have scored 94, conceded 46, and bagged 92 points in the process.

Eastleigh bagged an impressive 87 goals but leaked a not so impressive 61 goals to just about scrape into the Play Off's on 82 points.

When was the last time any Rovers team got 90 points and bagged 90+ goals in a season?

Going to take lots of money and a good Manager to come anywhere near those statistics next season.

Agreed Pez...Paios has said he will budget as a top four in the conference ....I think if we have any hope of getting back up next season we need to budget as if we were a league one / championship club.....Top four conference budget will not cut it...

I thought we might have played a bit better yesterday. There was no pressure on the team having already been relegated but it was the same old dross. When ever we got the ball it was like the parting of the red sea all our players ran to the flanks. We had nothing going through the middle. On the odd accasion we got a cross into the box there was no one there.I cant remember their keeper making a meaningful save. I could go on forever but I cant be arsed.

I thought we played alright yesterday and I certainly thought Bury weren't up to much for a team that have been automatically promoted either

I thought we did alright until as usual no quality in or around the box. Thought they were fitter second half as we tired. But same old story, hardly anything up front and a soft goal at the back.

We need to be tighter at the back next season. Too many soft goals conceded. Our defence was static and didn't react to set pieces again.

None of our forward players take a chance and make a run into a position where a good cross might come. So when decent balls are played in[and there were some],they are wasted because nobody is on the end of them.

If rovers had given Lowe a two year contract at the end of last season we would have been looking forward to another season still in the football league 2. I don't know how much they got from Bury for him, but it is now going to cost a lot more now than if they given Lowe that two year contract and he was an good striker.

With respect though Lowe scored 20 goals last season and yet we still went down whilst this season he has had time out injured, missed games and got nowhere near that amount of goals - and that's in a team that no doubt created many more chances for the strikers than we did!

However though had he scored in 4 more goals in 4 drawn games, Tranmere would have been 3 points clear of Hartlepool with a bigger goal difference tally and almost certain to survive, so that would have meant no serious pressure to perform if the squad was considered not solid enough to challenge, as expecting Lowe to make the difference between top 3 and bottom 2, would have been a bit unrealistic.
