Gary Brabin makes his second summer signing for Tranmere by bringing in a defender…..
Tranmere have this afternoon announced that defender Ritchie Sutton has agreed to join the Club, becoming new Manager Gary Brabin’s second signing of the closed season following the arrival of James Norwood recently.
Sutton, who is 29, has signed a two-year deal with Rovers having previously spent the last four years with Mansfield Town in a spell which included helping the Stags to the Conference League title in the 2012-13 season.
Last season, Ritchie made a total of 38 appearances for the Stags in League Two and also picked up a number of Player of the Season Awards from Stag’s supporters’.

Ritchie Sutton (pictured here in his Port Vale days) is Gary Brabin's latest recruit
Sutton began his career with Crewe Alexandra and via spells at non-League sides Stafford Rangers and Northwich Victoria then had a year-long spell at Port Vale before moving to Mansfield in June 2011.
Tranmere have confirmed that Sutton’s contract will come into effect on July 1st.
Speaking to the Tranmere Rovers Official Website earlier today, Manager Gary Brabin said….
“I’m really pleased to bring Ritchie to the Club. He’s a no-nonsense type of defender who takes pride in keeping clean sheets. He’s an honest lad, who defends first and foremost and I believe he’ll be an excellent addition to the squad.”
Total Tranmere would like to welcome Ritchie to Tranmere Rovers and we look forward to seeing him in action for the team when the new season gets underway!

The defender Daniel Parslow has been released by York and he has promotion winning experience at this level, as well as higher level experience and was player of the season 3 years in a row, so that could be another options for Brabin, if he wants players who experience that promotion feeling and win awards.
He played for Grimsby on loan this season gone and played in the playoff final, so more useful experience of that as well.
However an injury in the past might be one potential detractor, but he might be someone worth a look at.
Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.
