3 wins, not a bad start?

Well I'm down south at the moment and it hasn't stopped raining the last 24hrs so lets hope it will be on!

remember our fa cup tie down there was called off. also think they had a few postponements last season. must have poor drainage. hope its on for the fans sake.

Weather forecast looks ok...Rain due to stop overnight with a bright dry Saturday...resulting in 3 more points to SWA...

Would play same side as Tuesday if Ridehalgh fit. Keep it tight for first 20 - 30 mins then we can play our football. A win, 2-0.

I was reading their last games write up's. They seem to have been unlucky and had a lot of ball. This might be a harder game than we think. But still if we play that free flowing football and close down 0 - 2 win for the SWA...

My lasting impression of Braintree was in the FA Cup a couple of seasons back. Had my ticket all purchased but the game was called off due to a waterlogged pitch (hope the same does not happen tomorrow!). Anyway the match was rescheduled for midweek and I was unable to attend but thankfully it was broadcast on TV. However the game was so dire the camera kepted moving to a big guy in the SWA end who was stripped off to the waist dancing about in the rain. He was more entertaining than the game. Hopefully all the action will be on the pitch tomorrow.

Going for a 2-1 rovers win, putting a cheeky £1 in a 5-1 away win tho :-)

I have always thought that both Woking and Gateshead would be top half teams and hence the last two results look good. In contrast I expect Braintree to struggle and this isjust the sort of game that a team with aspirations of promotion should expect to win.

Good though the last two results have been they have been achieved without the team fully hitting its stride. As the new group gel things should get better and so I am very optimistic about the next two games

On the train to London with a couple of chester fans, (they do have carers with them) they said that Braintree were a good passing team and could easily of got a draw from there game last week. so with that in mind I am going for 3-1 mangan2 Harris pays 60/1 with mangan first goal scorer

I'm feeling optimistic, so I'll go 40-0, which is an average of 1 goal every 2.25 minutes. Considering it can take literally less than 10 seconds for the ball to go from the defense to the strikers and in the net, 2.25 minutes to get a goal, allowing for 0.25 of a minute for the celebration, until the resultant kickoff, would still leave a net goal creation time frame, of 2 minutes.

Or failing that I'll settle for 1-0

Sounded very poor. Maybe I was getting a bit carried away but still a bit dissapointed. 31 goals in this division today and we didn't sound like we were going to get 1. As I said maybe got a bit carried away and 7 pts from the first three games is a solid start.

Bit of reality check. Still if we were poor, how many times have we still manged to take a point on the road when that's been the case in recent seasons? Not many. 7 points from 9 with two away games is a good start. Be honest, we'd have said "we'll take that" before the season started. But the top 5 has already started to take shape. Think Chester will drop to be replaced by Wrexham or Cheltenham. But apart from that no other c

Although it feels unreasonable, I am disappointed for in a league that requires 90+ points for promotion this is just the sort of game that should be won.

There is then the niggling concern that after after more than four hours of play we have not had a forward score and today no one looked like scoring. Last week the call was for Mangan this week it is for Margetts but it sounds more like a lack of faith in those used rather than a conviction that other options are better.

We should still win on Tuesday and hopefully that will dispel the gnawing doubt about both creativity and the potency of the forwards

More than happy with 7 points from 9 games. Today was frustrating but Braintree played for a draw, gave us no time on the ball like Gateshead did and their tactics were spot on.

Our fans at times behaved disgustingly towards the players but I'm never surprised these days.

Given how we could have started I'd say 7 points from two away games and one home is more than satisfactory!

On the restricted evidence thus far it would look like Grimsby,Eastleigh,Forest Green, Lincoln,Wrexham,Wrexham and Us. I also think that Woking will be in contention.

I'm happy with a point today, Braintree appeared to know what they were doing to defuse us. Weve still made an excellent start to the season. And i put a bet on 0-0 at 9/1 so every cloud and all that...

"Reality check" boy does that bring back memories of when we played there last season,proper 1 man and his dog experience!At least you never lost like us and in fairness to Braintree they give nearly all the top teams a hard test on their own patch.I notice someone mentioned Braintree played for a point,so true and you will find a lot of the smaller sides will set up the same way at home and it leads to some incredibly turgid viewing.Anyway great start for you,we had amassed 1 point at the same stage so it looks like you've adapted straight away,very very important imo.

Quite agree, 7 points out of 9 is a brilliant start for me. As I was tracking the game on the BBC website I thought on 70 minutes that Margetts would sub for Mangan but as it was it was Mekki that nearly snatched it at the end. Well done. Onwards and upwards.

On the evidence of Forest Green they're winging it.

First game 1 shot on target, 1-0 win

Second game 17 shots, only 3 on target 1-0 win. 3 OTS out of 17 shots in total is poor.

Barrow, 4-0 because 2 Barrow players were sent off and one the FG goals was a penalty.

Albeit the second sending off was in the 90th after the 4th goal, so excluding that until the 17th minute when the first one happened FG were still 0-0 then immediately scored, so maybe barrow might have held it 0-0 without the sending off.

On that evidence, 2 draws and a win is about as much as they justify, although they do have 3 wins, they don't have a strong case for any of them frankly.

It's a question of how their luck will hold in the coming games, but to their credit they have the bank balance to compete, so they could still turn out to be a form side, not a flatter to deceive side that drops a few places by October.

Tranmere need to assess the ups and downs of todays performance. A bit disappointing but 7 points from 3 is good and it maybe could have been 9, with a bit more incisiveness in the middle and final third, but things to think about for Brabin and maybe 1-2 changes, but I'm sure he won't suddenly knee jerk and make wholesale changes and maybe Margetts and / or Mekki will start in Tuesday.

If Tranmere can get the next 4-6 points from the next 2 games, then 11-13 points from 5 might be enough for top.

To be fair, if after 5 games, we have 10 points, then we're doing ok.

Averaging 2 points per game will leave you up there at the end of the season, unless it's a freak year!

Hate to repeat what's been said here, but happy with 7 points. We're the FA Cup 3rd round of the league every game we play up until February. We're doing really well so far so stop complaining. SWA.

Not wishing to be controversial but I think anaylising how many points we may have in the next five,ten, twenty games etc is all rather pointless ,(excuse the pun). What matters is how we are currently playing and yesterday we were very poor. Braintree were first to virtually every ball, snapping at our heels and giving us no time on the ball what so ever. When we did have the ball our passing was absymal and the ball was straight back in our half once again. Our strikers hardly got a luck in and our midfield spent more time arguing amongst themselves as if they did not have a clue what they were meant to be doing! One bright point again was Hill who kepted the defence together well and in my opinion should be captain. We will be playing better teams than Braintree and unless we have a plan B then those who like to work out possible future points may be working out how many we need for the play offs? Don't get me wrong though I am more than happy with seven points at this stage but yesterday we were very poor.

Agreed I spent a lot of money going Braintree and it was awful no fight no real urgency and just like a friendly game. Funny how 2 other teams before us managed to beat them yet we couldn't even muster 5 minutes of pressure!!

Except for the goal v Woking, and the 10 minute purple patch at Gateshead. all 3 games have been devoid of quality and entertainment.

as the old saying goes, if a team can get results and pick up points without particularly playing well or attractively, then that is the sign of a good side. these could be good omens for us. brabin has stated that we are by no means the finished article and work is still to be done. I think any new managers first priority is sorting out the back 4 and build from there. judging by our first 3 games, he has done that. we appear to be defensively sound , so far. I think most of us agree that a couple of additions are needed to the midfield area of the squad and I do think that a strike force will come to fruition soon. I don't get to see the games, and it seemed a dire performance yesterday, but we have 7 points, I am not complaining. we will get better not worse.

As for the poor standard of games in not sure what Division some of our fans think we are in?!!!

7/9 is a very good return, especially as we've just had 2 away game.

My only concern at the moment is the lack of fire power from our attacking players.

We need to address this issue soon or we will soon be getting done by the odd goal.

This is a difficult league and we need to put in a few more performances like the Gateshead game.

It's disappointing that we have seen much class from any of our forwards up to now.

I'm sure G.B is on the case and we'll hopefully see a vast improvement come Tuesday V Halifax.

Norwood comes with a good pedigree at this level and I'm sure he'll start producing the goods when fully match fit.

Stockton on the other hand has done very little considering how much faith has been put in him by G.B.
