Hill Wonder Goal Wins August Goal of the Month

  After a week of voting it’s defender Matt Hill who wins our Goal of the Month Award with his wonder goal away at Gateshead....  

 

 

 

 

 

It’s perhaps the most unsurprising result we will see this season but after a week of voting, the readers of this site have voted Matt Hill as their Goal of the Month Winner for August for his wonder strike away at Gateshead in the second game of the season.

Putting in a fantastic block tackle in the Rovers half of the field, Hill came away with the ball across the halfway line, before advancing and launching it at goal and into the net, giving Gateshead goalkeeper Sam Russell no chance.

That goal capped a fine Rovers performance in a 4-1 win on the night and Liam Ridehalgh’s opening goal of the night was also a contender for the Award for August.  Ridehalgh’s goal came in third place in the poll behind Jay Harris’ goal on the opening day of the season at home to Woking.

Andy Mangan’s game winning goal at home to Halifax Town came in fourth place whilst Mangan’s goal in the 2-2 home draw with Kidderminster failed to poll any votes.
