Not quiet a must win game, but certainly a must not lose game. I'm going for either 2-2, or 2-3

mate of mine who is a Grimsby fan described their game with Forest Green thus "they are a good side but a bunch of dirty ,fouling,shirt-pulling b@$tards with it" .

Can't see us getting anything out of this without Dawson and Mangan. Hopefully Maynard will return in place of Jenno.

3-0 forest green... The team without mangan and Dawson has no pace or threat, loan signings a must !!

Lose and I can console myself with a point in the Predictions, win and all is good (apart from Predictions!)

have just been on google maps for the forest green rovers ground. its all quite rustic and rural with a few houses around. no sign whatsovever of a shop or pub in the vicinity and same could be said for a chippy. looks like the locals have to travel a bit to get to any kind of shop, unless they go hungry, lol.

2-0 Forest Green. We need loan signings ASAP the squad is to small Gary Brabin should of forseen this with the suspensions a couple of weeks ago.

We have looked stronger at the back from time to time..... Apart from the sleep walking we seem to fall into at least once in every game. Can Jennings reproduce the attacking desire that saw him get his goal the other week. We cannot rely on Harris for all the supply. Not convinced by Norwood yet, Margetts in the absence of Mangan needs the right balls.. on the floor into space. Is Ridehalgh really the only left sided option?

Yeh but what we have with them is players can hold the ball up and help link up the play, without them no one seems to have the confidence to hold the ball they treat it like a hot potato. Whilst Ihiekwe has pace I generally think we look more solid overall without him.

Tranmre still have a team capable of competing and I'd say 1-0. If the rumours about Gary Taylor-Fletcher are to be believed and he played, he could just be the most potent player on the pitch.

Hopefully if he is with the team and does play he makes a telling contribution, and is not subbed within 20 minutes for a groin issue or something like that.

Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.

Big thanks to our spies lurking in asda for excellent fresh intel on new sigmings etc . Thats why I love this site and all of you good folks equally. Excellent result, well played Tranmere. Looked like a good all round performance, credit where it is due to the team and manager.

Fantastic result ..back in the play off spot and only 5 off the top...to add to my joy I even predicted a 0-2 win in the prediction league...so it's 3 points to both SWA and me...happy days...l

Good result, could be an astute signing Taylor-Fletcher, bit out of shape by the photos but must have more than enough quality for this league if he was at a Premier League club last year and I assume in there promotion winning squad, starts off with a goal, good news!

Gary brabin, fair play to the guy, ive give him more than enough stick over the season but realising sutton and margetts are both @#$%& and dropping them is great management... Also the the fact we desperately need a guy who can put it in the back of the net and bringing Taylor-fletcher in, hopefully Norwood/mangan do all the running for him so he can just finish The chances off and save his energy... So well done Gary 👏

Disagree about Sutton. He has been solid at the back.

If you count kicking the ball as far up the pitch as you soon as you can when you have enough to time to boil the kettle on the ball... Then yea Sutton is a solid defender

Sutton has been our best defender this season and out of position at right back for a number of games including more recently so to drop him today was a bizarre one regardless of the result!

deadly I think you just like to disagree with every comment I make, Sutton is an awful player, his passing is even worse, bad in the centre and bad at right back, HOGAN is our best defender by miles and could play at a higher level

No I have a different opinion which funnily enough doesn't always boil down to what you happen to be spouting at the time.

I agree Hogan is great too but Sutton hasn't done anything to deserve to be dropped even though today it didn't matter and we can't complain.

At this level in particular a defenders job is to DEFEND not to necessarily be someone with great distribution - provided the ball is away from the attackers I don't care how it's done.

We'll have to agree to disagree, Sutton doesn't contribute anything to the team, defends the same as half the players on a Sunday league could do, decent squad player as cover for hogan and Riley but 100% not for the starting 11, need a right back in January and with super skotty Davies in goal we look very solid defensively !!

Riley for me is the weak link (seems strange to say that after today) Blair if we're picking a weaker one its Riley for me!

Anyway, onto today. Absolutely fantastic. The players, the passion, the fans. The best kind of away day!

I totally agree with you about Sutton but disagree about Riley. No way is he a weak link.

Blimey that's refreshing, as it must be the first time I've ever seen you post a positive thing about any Tranmere employee or outcome; are you feeling yourself or a bit under the weather?

I've seen defenders watch a ball come down in the box and it bounces around and they react like a hand grenade has just been chucked in and adopt the headless chicken approach, making rushed decisions and sometimes giving it away which can lead to goals.

The balance between holding and passing and just punting away a danger ball, needs to be developed though, as too much of one thing and not enough of the other can cost goals at both ends.

As for the actual result, what a great result and it might be a bit premature, but am I the only one who thinks Taylor-Fletcher could turn out to be the best player in the NL this season and possibly even better than anyone in league 2?

Hopefully form kicks on and one or two injured players come back to compliment his skill. It will be challenge for Brabin to get an attacking core of Norwood, Mangan, Harris and Taylor-Fletcher to blend, but I'd say when Mangan comes back, he must find space for all 4 somehow.

Excellent performance today from every one of the starting eleven from beginning to end.We should have won by a few more than two but a totally enjoyable experience from start to finish.Very well done all.


And how refreshing was it to hear their manager heaping lots of praise on us after the game rather than making excuses.Well done Mr Pennock.


Another thing that I thought was great was the llamas living in a field less than 50 yards from the ground.Where else in this country would you see that by/at a football stadium?

for those at the forest green game yesterday ( i believe it to be 480 rovers fans ) how were the veggie pies? were they sampled or steered clear of?

I wasn't their but yes, far to premature, the guy has only played one game, he could turn out to be the worst player we've ever had.

Or he could turn out to be a stroke of genius from Brabin - we don't know that either.

It does frustrate me the way people go for the negative as a first option (not a personal dig at you Higgo as I can see that you're saying we shouldn't get carried away too quick which is fair enough!)

Our best result of the season so far and a bonus to keep a clean sheet need to get a run of wins now to get closer to the top and aay from the pack in the middle the tabe

The best away day of the season by a mile for me.

No meat on sale and no internet signal anywhere so should have had all the makings of a poor away day... but it just didn't!

Brilliant Day!

Couple of points
1- food (veggie burger) looked awful - went to the Brittania Inn down in the village - cracking little pub, great food and three different ciders on tap (no strongbow). Still surprised that despite all the coverage in the build up, one rovers fan still felt it necessary to complain to the stewards as to the lack of meat products. Also understand that no dairy milk - only soya in the drinks - locals advised us to stay clear of the hot drinks
2- Sutton - as for the fact that he can't pass- correct me if I am wrong, but didn't he provide that great cross for Mangan at Wrexham?
3- Internet coverage - said to be woeful all the time at the ground as was mobile coverage for a couple of the networks
4- Agree that they all played well, but once again Norwood's finishing was poor - locals enquired whether he had been sent off yet - stated that he has a temper which will result in a coupple of unnecessary red cards a season

Haha I had to laugh at the middle part of point 1 (Complaining about lack of meat!) - brilliant!

Agree totally about Sutton and although Norwood should have probably had at least one other if not more. he makes up for that in work rate without doubt!

Plus as mentioned elsewhere on here it was great to see Gary Taylor-Fletcher playing his defensive part too in clearing off the line!

Fair point regarding Norwood, he cleared both stands with good chances. I also noticed he complains a lot to the officials.

[1]I was told that the veggie burger tasted nice by a couple of lads who had one. I took a pie of my own with me.The bar/pub/club at the ground was very civilised and had a very friendly atmosphere.And the bitter was good.
[2]Sutton is perfectly capable of [and has provided]very decent crosses . A defenders main job however is to defend not be Xavi or Iniesta.

[3] My phone seemed to have a wifi and internet problem on most of the trip down and back apart from Cheltenham station[where I changed trains and it worked perfectly] and,to a lesser extent,Stroud.

[4]Norwood scored a with a great header and set up Taylor Fletchers with a fine run and pass. I think the chances he missed were more because he went for the spectacular[because of his emotion at returning to his former club] rather than simpler finish though none of them were easy chances. He was a constant problem to their team and worked very hard. He got a bit of a mixed reception from their fans but the majority of them gave him a good reception especially when he was subbed near the end-some of their fans booed but very few players who move on to a rival club get a universal welcome back when they return to their former club.

Fair play Hoots ive seen plenty of fans take their own flask of tea or coffee with them, but never a Pie of their own!

As I usually go by train to Saturday away games,I take my own 'bag of swag' with me to eat during the day.This particular meat pie didn't actually make it to the match-I ate it on the bus from Stroud to Forest Green.
