Tranmere have signed Barnet striker Ben Tomlinson on a three month loan deal.....

Tranmere Rovers have today reportedly agreed to sign Barnet striker Ben Tomlinson on a three month loan deal according to an interview with Bees Manager Martin Allen.

The Barnet and Potters Bar Times newspaper reports that the 26 year-old striker has left Barnet today to join Rovers having only recently been on loan at Rovers’ National League rivals Grimsby Town.

In fact Tomlinson played for Grimsby against Rovers in the televised 1-1 draw at Blundell Park last month which was one of seven appearances he made for the Mariners whilst on loan there.

After beginning his career at Worksop, Tomlinson had spells in the National League (then the Conference) at Macclesfield, Alfreton and Lincoln City before joining newly promoted to the Football League Barnet on 1st July this year.

At Lincoln he scored 32 goals in 78 appearances with 11 goals in 29 appearances during his time at Alfreton and 6 in 15 for Macclesfield Town.

Tomlinson began the 2015/16 season with five appearances for his parent club Barnet before going to Blundell Park in September and making his debut against Tranmere in the aforementioned 1-1 draw.

His twelve appearances this season across both clubs have seen him not score a goal so far and pick up four yellow cards.

Speaking to Bees Player, Barnet Manager Martin Allen said..

“Young Ben (Tomlinson), we’ve just agreed a deal for him to go up to Tranmere Rovers for three months on loan.  Ben has been back training with us but he wants to play.  He’s full of energy, is a very positive character and I’m delighted for him to get a chance to go to such a great club as Tranmere so he’s leaving us today”

Am I alone in thinking that Mangan is out for a while?

Mangan was in the bench Tuesday. More likely that either Margetts has had enough and he's off or something has happened to Taylor-Fletcher which is more serious than they are making out!

I have heard a whisper that GTF is going to be out for quite a while so bringing in another striker makes sense!!

It might be okay, as that guy scored 32 in 85 games, between 2013 and 2015 for Lincoln

Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.

These comments from the official site stand out a mile for me....

"The 26-year-old, who can operate in both wide positions and up front"

"With Adam Mekki and Adam Dawson both unavailable, Ben will provide us with more options in the attacking areas and is a good addition to the squad."

So it appears he's a winger, striker crisis over.

That makes complete sense of he's a winger! Exactly what we needed!

Maybe GB has finally had enough of Jackson's lack of impact on the wing?

He wasn't great today but who was? Hard to criticise him too much after today.

Hes not a winger hes a centre forward who has played on the wing

I wish he was a centre forward who played on the wing!
Another player........not good enough to play up front.....told to play out wide.....but decides he will play centre forward regardless.
Result - no supply to forwards, shoots rather than crosses, drags another defender into the middle taking space away from forwards.
Fails to stretch opposition, allows them to be compact when defending, ruins game plan and tactics (based on early set up).
As mentioned on other site........bring back Kirby (surprises himself writing that!)

Made the pilgrimage on Saturday from London. Should have stayed at home.

Obviously, the referee and his assistant, Blind Pugh, stole the show. The most glaring hand ball ever! How they contrived to miss it is a mystery requiring the talents of Hercule Poirot to solve.

That being said, Dover were tenacious and I think would have got the draw if they hadn't been gifted the game.

Saw some positives with Rovers and their names were McNulty and Taylor Fletcher. I thought Mc Nulty in particular was great, calm on the ball and looked to make the pass. Too many others panicked whenever the ball was near them.

I thought Hill looked done. Good skills but his pace has gone and with Tomlinson on the same wing, it was a disaster. Tomlinson made George Donnelly look like Messi. Worrying to hear how keen Brabin was to sign him.

The other weak link for me was Jennings. Willing but no longer able, looks like his engine is done.

Finally, why didn't we play from the start the way we did in the second half? Much better football and unlucky not to be rewarded.

Hey no....

Brenk, did you have the same misfortune as me! I travelled back on the 6.45pm from Lime Street to Euston. The same train as the Dover team and supporters!! It wasn't a pleasant trip back. Second team I have seen now taking the train, Boreham Wood were the others.

Thankfully not. Stayed up to see my mum. Drive up took six hours but mercifully, return three and a half.

Maybe he should be given a few games to see if he fits in but why did Grimsby not renew his loan, why for 3 months and if you are serious about promotion why not Ryan Lowe instead. He may not be available now anyway .
I hope Dawson is not out for 3 months and how would Dawson's injury affect him signing in the January window if that still is the plan
