Looking forward to tomorrow, first time coming to your ground. What do you think about the weather, any chance the game could be in doubt with the rain forecasted?
Every ball is a white ball............TRFC
If we park the bus as badly as we did v Alty, we will lose.
Should be a great game.If both teams go for it.

3 games off so far in the conference today including Braintree yet again, they must have terrible drainage at their ground. that means they will have 4 games in hand on us now.

that's right wozza, I think at one point last season they were 6 games in arrears of most other teams.
I spoke to Mangan at halftime an he said he's leaving on Monday back to Shrewsbury.
Just totally baffled with it all.

Tranmere fan in peace we were poo first half but so were they yes they scored and that's the point of the game second half although laboured we had more than enough chances to even win it don't think Davies made a save all game like most normal fans I see no point in abusing players I also see no point in screaming at the opposition to get on with it as every team in every league does it
Quote:yes mate fans were ok today I was using it as a starting point about getting annoyed about time wasting although there was one guy who just kept on shouting sh*** all the time mainly second half which was bizarre as we played slightly better2 the moonQuote:fand weren't to bad today. Let me guess: Best team, most possesion, loads of shots, critical decisions gone against, deserved more, they cheated: to big (illegal) used their strength (also illegal) pacey players (not fait) parked the bus (how dare they)
Pretty much spot on Higgo yes! Macclesfield seemed to be playing for the draw from the kick off and I think if I'd bothered to time it there wouldn't have been more than 2 minutes consecutively that one of their players wasn't on the floor!
If cheating, feigning, diving and timewasting is what gets a team into the play-offs as they now are then that is the reason Rovers approach to this Division needs to change. If you can't beat them join them I say!
As for us two penalty appeals, two wonder saves by their otherwise dodgy keeper and a goal unbelievably disallowed at the death would suggest Brabin's comments about Officials after our win against last week were perhaps a little justified.
As I said on another thread we probably needed to go two up front when the substitution was made and on a final point I thought Jenno did pretty well again today.
The way we had built up to Christmas with such poor form, I guess six points from nine is alright to an extent.

Mcnulty had another good game at CB and was doing a better job than the so called midfield for putting in crosses.
New club shop looks good. Walking in could dream we are in a higher division.
NEGATIVES:
Where to begin?
We have no attacking flair or creativity going forward. Mekki was our only real hope of cutting opposition open but nobody decent to pass to in final third!
Why on earth has Brabin prioritised bringing in Hughes who is, according to a Cambridge Utd friend, a "neat and tidy central midfielder"? That is not the answer to our current plight !
Hill is really starting to look like a weak link in defence.
We can't be relying on Norwood for goals (which we are at the moment) as he's too wasteful in the final third.
We have too many players who are not up to scratch for promotion out of this league. I can't fault the work rate - I think it's just a lack of quality.
Brabin - seems to be a lack of recognition of what we need in terms of signings and tactical decisions. Also chucking Norwood's boots at the wall just demonstrated a lack of compusure and professional head for the game. Poor.

Good game from our perspective. Thought trannmere tried to bully their way with some dirty fouls but macc stood up to them. Could have easily been a draw with some close shots from yourselves. Overall macc battled well and deserved 3points. Good luck for rest of season

There were some dirty tackles though. Referee didn't help controlling the game either. They never penalised your players and as soon as one of macc committed a foul it was a straight yellow. Anyway yes honours even. See you all next season, enjoyable day out
Macc dished it out as well, just ask Adam Mekki
Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.

We simply can't hit a barn door. At the start of the season I was buzzing with Norwood, Mangan, Margetts and Stockton. I really thought we'd be smashing goals in left right and centre.

Two up front would be a start, I think, I just don't know who. The apacquiring of a winger is good to, let's hope for more. Surely the manager gets fed up saying the same thing thing every week though, he sounds like Brendon Rodgers, always someone else's fault. He's experinced at this level and surely all these things shouldn't come as a surprise. I like a quote from Gary Player years ago when a fellow pro bemoaned players good luck, "It's funny the more I practice the luckier I get". Whilst we have a "siege" mentality our luck won't change. I wonder if it's time for the manager and club to "give up" on promotion and accept mid table, reliving pressure.
I agree with you Deadly that they went down and rolled over a lot in the first half,BUT the two players who acted injured the most-the keeper and the number 8 ,WERE actually substituted. When the keeper was eventually helped down the tunnel,he did not look in a good way.Every team does their share of timewasting at the appropriate time.
We're losing 1-0 with less than ten minutes to go,yet he takes off the only player who, even though he wasn't having a great game, looked capable of creating a good chance. He then brings on a striker who hasn't played for us for months but,at the same time, withdraws the player who over the past few months has been virtually our only goal threat,to the left wing, and stays at 4-5-1. Why did he not just take a chance-take off one of our defensive midfielders or back four. If we'd have lost 2-0 .so what?
I have not been anti-Brabin but today he has lost a HUGE amount of sympathy from me.And that was before I heard about Mangan-mindboggling and utterly depressing.

The league is a joke, their are no strong sides, as the mighty Cheltenham are showing everyone because they haven't been brilliant, but what they do have is a quality manager, just makes our jokes even worse IMO. TBF I thought you'd batter us, Altiricham should have.
Agree that a win for us was probably undeserved but at least we play decent football and managed to score. Our keeper arguably kept us in it in the 2nd half and the disallowed goal for yourselves looked a harsh decision I must admit.
And about the diving, feigning injuries etc- two of our players that went down had to go off (our keeper and no 8) so they can't be accused of faking it.
Anyway, enjoyable trip across Cheshire, look forward to coming back next season and good luck in the meantime.

From our point of view, very little chance of promotion any time soon unfortunately, so I expect to see you next season.

I'm sorry to say it but your team has the capability of being play off contenders but the style of football you play makes you look a long way off that. Some questionable tactics/management decisions didn't help much- why take off one of your liveliest players and stick your top scorer out wide and then immediately let him leave the club? Brabin doesn't look up to it I'm afraid, and it's not the first time I've thought that.
From our point of view, very little chance of promotion any time soon unfortunately, so I expect to see you next season.

Without Norwood goals we would be in a worse position
Didn't we say something similar about Max Power last season, yet we played better when he wasn't there.
Not saying we should drop Norwood but we need to stop playing a one track minded game which is look for Norwood and hope he scores.
I like him as a player but he can't be your main striker he misses to many 1on1, we need a goalscorer rather than a scorer of good goals, he will get 18-20 goals but we need the guy who scores 20-25 tap ins.

He IS by a long way our best and main striker-the fact that he misses 1on1's is not relevant.Without his efforts,we'd be much lower down the league.
On Match of the Day tonight there was a stat which showed the top 3 Premier league all time goalscorers. In third place was Andy Cole who also regularly got derided for the large number of chances he missed-but there were plenty he didn't miss[187 IIRC]and he was always in position for these chances.

ive just been studying the full conference table with both home and away standings for each team. our away form isn't too bad, in fact if a couple of our away draws had been victories then it would be pretty decent and on a par with the top sides. its these 6 home defeats that are really costing us [ gateshead seem to be suffering the same as us. ] we've only lost 3 away so why have we lost 6 at home?
I've been told the reason for this but am bound to bashed for saying it so it's staying in my head HKR!

Not disagreeing with any of what has been said about Norwood his our best threat, just feel we need a poacher to bag the half chances and a significant number of the one on one's

Johnson is a quality manager in the lower leagues and whenever I see him being interviewed he always seems relaxed, has a smile on his face, talks sense, takes things in his stride, never waffles on about the science of football, and often has a joke. it must rub off on his players too, reckon they enjoy playing for him.

Have Tranmere suddenly got an affiliation with a club like Musfat Baniyas.
Having said that a guy called Omar Khribin has scored 11 goals in 25 internationals for Syria, so maybe he's being lined up as Mangan's replacement and he's only 21, so nobody could accuse Brabin of signing a fat old northerner if he signed, which I completely believe he won't.
Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.
Enjoyed that.
A fantastic team performance with some individual brilliance thrown in.
Tranmere are a good side made up of athletes on very good money. This time we didn't let them bully us, Askey told the lads to hit the deck everytime they put in a wreckless challenge and it worked. We destroyed the flow of the game and won.
Wasn't too worried about them equalising, Norwood has about 5 clear cut scoring chances over the course of the last two games and doesn't look like he could hit the net if his life depended on it.
Special mentions to Branagan, Pilkinton, Fitz and Sampson.

Have to defend Deadly on this one. From my vantage point in the Town Paddock there were other players too who tried to con the ref. Funny really, they didn't reproduce these tactics in the second half as I guess it was even a little too embarrassing for their management team to continue with. We shouldn't be making excuses for any kind of cheating or time wasting and it would be massively disappointing if we did revert to this. Saying every team does it doesn't excuse it and I wish officials at least added the appropriate amount of time on, unlike the first half. Cheats do seem to prosper.

To think someone had a go at me and a couple of others for calling Macclesfield cheats by saying it was sour grapes on our part when it was actually their tactic all along it seems!
I think we do need to change to being more dirty and physical to be honest. Macclesfield and Eastleigh have proved it can get you into the Top 5.
If you're referring to me in your first paragraph Deadly,I have repeated my post below.I see no reason to change my comment.
''I agree with you Deadly that they went down and rolled over a lot in the first half,BUT the two players who acted injured the most-the keeper and the number 8 ,WERE actually substituted. When the keeper was eventually helped down the tunnel,he did not look in a good way.Every team does their share of timewasting at the appropriate time.''

I said the ''two players who acted injured the most'' not the only two.The reason they didn't do it in the second half was that they went off injured in the first half.
Also to compare the way Macclesfield played to the way Eastleigh played is ludicrous.

So there were only two then?
No comparisons were made, just that any of it is unacceptable regardless of who it is. Sad when opposing fans are pleased with these tactics.

Thats what we need to do,cheat
Then if someone got sent off and it cost Tranmere some points, people would moan, but then it would be double standards for some, where it's not okay for someone like Kabba to do it against Tranmere, but okay when a Tranmere player does it.
how could it have cost us points, we didn't get any points, that is the point.
I was just comparing the Welling game to what might happen if Tranmere adopted that attitude in future.
However I was unaware, as the poster I commented on has explained since, that the inference that Tranmere should cheat, was a tongue in cheek comment.
Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.
