There is Morecambe Bay around the Walney Island bridge and also the two main Devonshire and Buccleuch docks, that might pose a flood risk possibly.
They are tidal though. Excess river water won't cause them to flood. A storm surge and high tide might.
Anyway, we owe this lot a beating. They have conceded quite a few in some games and if we score early I'm feeling positive. 3-0 to the SWA.
Their home game was called off the other week when most of the northerly north west games were off.

I've heard that there is a pitch inspection in the morning.

Precautionary inspection at 0930hrs I've been told. Need to know before 10am if going on the train.
Regardless of who we are playing our games are becoming harder to predict as in theory we are capable of beating anyone but in practice we are equally likely to lose to any team
Intuition rather than reason makes me think that we will scrape a narrow win

I am going for that rarest occurrence - match abandoned at half time due to waterlogging after torrential rain in the first half.

We will have deserved the win, had more chances more possession, some bad decisions, looked good at the back, been dangerous going forwards and scored one, they will have had two lucky break aways that should have been freekicks to us and scored two goals but we are still confident of pulling back the gap and securing promotion.

Wtf, threw the remote away, kicked the cat, switched the radio off, stormed out the room when we conceded the third. Calmed down a bit and came on to TT to view the inevitable s**t storm. And f***ing won!

Should still have Jim over GB any day, he's now unbeaten in his 7 games in charge with 5 wins and 2 draws.

For what it's worth the better side won. First half we looked good and I thought Tomlinson in the lone striker role was very good to be fair as was Jennings in midfield (again).
They had a late run of corners at the end of the first half but 1-0 was the fair scoreline at the break.
Second half we weren't as good but still deserved to win I felt.
I won't bring things down too much after such a great win but the less said about some elements of our support the better (not blaming the fans for the way the game went but just in general) - embarassing!

Lets put things into perspective, today we may have edged the game against a very very poor side but still concede 3 goals. Yes a fantastic comeback and was nice to see the players showing some fighting spirit for once! I still maintain my opinion that brabin must go! At 3-1 down he was a broken man! We were still tactically inept and that comes from the coaching and management. The players themselves have thrown the manager a lifeline.
Wholeheartedly disagree. He is poor yes but he cant be sackwd now wjo would take the job. 4 points off playoffs. We would be known as a sacking club no one goes to those we are stuck with him til either his contract expires or we have a sufficiently low league position I.e low bottom half. Not 4 points ofc playoffs we are the mighty tranmere we deserve....

Do the players change tactics, formation and personnel themselves? Give the team, including the manager the credit they deserved. Minus a dubious penalty, they were never getting back in that match.
Although I admire our never-so-die attitude for a change, this victory only papers over the cracks!
Brabin hasn't got a clue tactically, only for the players not the manager did we win.
Brabin out

Not getting back into it???? They were 3-1 up with 3 minutes to go after being 1 nil down??
Let's get real we scrapped passed Barrow for gods sake!
Hardly Tranmere Rovers of old.
The manager is not helping we are making heavy weather of this and I hope we get out of this league but Brabin is not the man for the job in my opinion.
Can we put back to back wins together and win @ Prentin Park?
Quote:Davis887
Norwood injured in warm up, no striker to replace him but more defenders than you can shake a stick at!!!
That makes the result even better then, that there were no recognised strikers and they still won.
For me Brabin is not worth sacking just now, not from a cost perspective, but just because I don't see a need for it and if the players hadn't capitulated against Kidderminster and stuck more goals away in games where they were ahead on chances, like the Woking one, they'd be in the playoffs now and maybe the Brabin out types would be virtually non-existent.

Both penalties nailed on...........ref didn't see the second, neither did his assistant, must have been on the say so of the fourth official.
Hill, struggled badly on the heavier surface, and Iheweke seemed to have selected the wrong footwear - surprised that nobody has noted that Vaughan had a good game.
Sewcond half usual problem, sit back invite the opposition on, they chased the game, and benefited from a positive approach, and at 3-1 down we did the same.
Hopefully someone on the coaching staff will have noted that we are not good enough to grind out one nil wins, but we do have the ability to score goals if we look to attack.
We amy be better off trying to win the game, rather than trying to make sure we don't loose it
We should have been out of sight at half time. Barrow must be the worst team I've seen[on both occasions] this season but we somehow contrived to be 3-1 down-you couldn't write a script for this ending.
But the most amusing part had to be explaining the goals on the train back to all those who left when it was 3-1. Boy,did I enjoy that.

the 2 commentators on bbc radio cumbria were pretty shellshocked at the final whistle. lol.
Just been on the radio Cumbria (I player)on listen again, last 10 minutes make amusing listening, give it a go.
On the GB in GB out front, personally I just don't know. Really do think he would benefit from some assistance though, in the form of tactical advice , just to give him a hand. He does seem to have been thrown out to sea in a boat without a paddle.
With the 2 commentators on radio, they describe us as very very poor, maybe correct, but what does that say about Barrow.
Great comeback in the end but, it seems every game we don't take advantage when on top. Worryingly, Norwood had a stomach problem ( not football related) and was taken to A&E, I believe.
Some of the pitches in the FA Cup were really poor due to the heavy rain(Eastleigh in particular and Exeter last night). So I was wondering what the pitch was like considering all the rain Cumbria has had recently?
What struck me.however was that although there were brief anti Lennon chants around substitutions, almost all the time the support for the team was positive and loud, albeit that Bolton were poor and the attitude of some players was questionable.
There is a place for criticism and critique of the team, manager, club etc, but not through the baying of a mob that too often seem to take real pleasure in aggression and hostility rather than support for the club. I honestly do feel that we have a disproportionate number in this group

so 3 wins out of 4 now but still not getting to carried away with the fact that many teams around us have games in hand. braintree now 5 games in hand of us.

I'm sure if Bolton had been at home, the atmosphere would have been a lot more hostile. You only have to look a Blackpool last season when the couldn't complete the last match due to the fans invading he pitch. We all have them.or should I say we all have them when things are going bad and then they disappear when it goes well. Fact of life, yesterday show how boos go to cheers as if by magic in a millisecond.
Why didn't the fans getting on their back lose them the game as is the easy get out clause for many. Miraculously it "inspired" them to win the game. The logic of this argument should now be buried once and for all. Getting bored with the fan bashing as it's players and managers that win and lose games with occasional supports from match officials. Thinking we are somehow unique in this department is foolhardy; take a look at the Barrow forum if you want some evidence of this. If we get promoted it will be down to the players and manager; if we don't it will be the fans fault!! Let's find another scapegoat.

Totally agree phil65. That's the point, you just can't try and blame the fans, and I don't for 1 second think our fans are any different to that of any other club.
Fan bashing just seams to be the easy option when they want to turn a blind eye to the real issues on and off the park.

My original post never suggested that the fans had an impact on the result either way. My point is that away support is usually different from home support as the percentage of committed supporters is usually higher than at home. Our away group reflect that pattern but we do include more negative/aggressive supporters than that of most clubs. Totally value passion but not the aggressiveness/hatred that is shown by some even towards Rovers players and staff Personally, I enjoy it when part of a crowd that backs the team during a game. Too often some of our travelling supporters can be an embarrassment
The longer people defend this behaviour the worse it will get.
Also read in the Echo that Mr. Brabin bit back at fans who were giving abuse in the Echo, for the first time.
Not that we we should be taking the gloss of our best comeback since Southampton.
Quote:Deadly Submarine
Is not unique though. Wrexham fans I know are sick of their idiot element too even at away games.
The longer people defend this behaviour the worse it will get.
At the other end of the spectrum is those who have "blind faith". History has proven that this is unhealthy to say the least. The same derogatory terms could be applied to those in this category by those who choose to debase the debate. Me, I'm happy sitting on the fence with splinters in my @#$%& but having the freedom of thought to be critical or praise when I feel the need arises. The point was fans being blamed for results (only defeats mind you). Here's to Bromley and more divided opinion!
What has been said is that a minority of fans are extremely quick to express their dissatisfaction (at the first misplaced pass, scuffed shot, etc.). Others are downright abusive and single players out for personal criticism. If they did this out on a Saturday night they'd end up in hospital, but they seem to think this is acceptable because the people they abuse happen to play football. This doesn't happen everywhere and isn't normal.
Taken together this produces an atmosphere that inhibits the team and turns our home advantage into a disadvantage at times. Is it a massive disadvantage? No, probably not, but in a game where there are small margins between victory and defeat it doesn't help us.

No one has ever blamed fans for defeats. No one has ever said that fans can't express their dissatisfaction at games when we aren't playing well.

Doogie's Ghost, your second two paragraphs are reasonable statements. With regards to the first paragraph then a little more research is required as it has been more than implied that fans have cost us games in previous threads and this seems to be alluded to on a regular basis. I have never condoned the out and out abuse that you refer to but just disagree with the argument that this and milder negativity is the reason we have not won more games.

Could'nt go to the game yesterday(wife put her foot down) have just watched the goals on u tube is it just me or are we conceding a lot of goals down our left hand side lately.Do teams see Hill as the weak link
Yes you're right, we are and possibly they do. I think however for one of the goals [possibly the third] Hill had two of them coming at him at once with no real cover.
Did you tell your wife that because you couldn't go,you missed one of those rare ''I was there when....'' moments? Or for those who left when it was three one ''I was there but I wasn't''

It was the 87th minute in the Holker Street, the home ground of AFC Barrow. The promoted team in the National League, the fifth highest league of England, went by Andy Cook with 3: 1 against Tranmere Rovers the lead. An ordinary case of "The preliminary decision"? Not this Saturday.
In the final minute Lois Maynard shortened from a distance to 2: 3, before the five-minute stoppage time broke - and with it the madness: Jeff Hughes umkurvte Barrows keeper to 3: 3 (90 + 2), substitute Jake Kirby met with a deflected it's 4: 3 (90 + 5). The sensational comeback was perfect.
And Tranmeres Twitter channel you noted soon that something special had happened. By evening, the number of followers had grown to a whopping 28,000. Trainer Gary Brabin processed the events more sober: He spoke of a "deserved victory".
Their English is better than my German.
(I also returned the compliment as they came from 2-0 down to win 4-2. But not in 5 minutes!)
