I would really like us to score a few get the goal difference on the up and we are capable of doing this, with the squad showing some good form recently. But would be very happy with a 1-0 victory to Tranmere and the three points.

However unpredictable teams are the worst you can play, because you don't know how they will perform, especially with new signings recently.

A win is all that's needed A good 3 or 4-0 win would be good but get the points, because points make prizes and Brabin could be the first Tranmere manager to win 3 in a row for 6 years.

Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.

Spot on that.

Torquay aren't coming to just chalk up another away defeat. We need to go at them from the start and take charge of the game.

An early goal would be lovely!

Great goal, we're tearing them to pieces as well. Lots of flicks and clever play breaking them down. They're defender will be shown a red by the end of the game with the way norwood is winding him up.

Very nervy at the end, i'm sure we have got more to us than route 1 football. Felt we could of won that game a lot more comfortably and invited them on in the 2nd half needlessly. Just humping the ball out of play or up the pitch in the air. when we play it on the ground we look in total control, so im not sure why they play that way when trying to protect a lead. Saying that Torquay only had 1 shot and scored from it, so we must of done something right. But we just dont take our chances, goal of the season for GTF though perhaps.. and an important win at home!

Proper game of two halves, why we sat back in the second half and went to 4-5-1 I'll never know. Jennings and Vaughn both had good games. Macreath had a good start as well but Sutton was clearing rather than distributing which was asking a lot of him.

Their goal was terrible, we were passing in our own area and passed it out for a throw and we just let them run. Shame.

Luckily Blisset was pretty anonymous. A good win but we could have pushed them all day.

I agree. It was what we have seen so many times at home this season. We really should be punishing teams like Torquay but we don't! playing one up front may be ok away but not at home. That said all the players worked their socks and Vaughan AND Mekki played well but Ihiekwe outstanding at the back.

I do worry what will happen at home when we play Forest Green and Cheltenham. He will have to change the system and play 2 up front.

The reason we go 4-5-1 and lump it are the comments from Brabin surrounding us being in seige mode, having to get over the line at PP and not thriwing away 1 goal advantages. Problem with that is firstly we have players who want to play football & secondly lumping it just gives up possesion easily. In any level sport the best performers are those who take a chance and gamble on the odds. Watching West Ham the other week against City and Billic made 2 attacking changes in the game ok they drew but could have won it but that mentality is whythe hamners and Leicster are where they are. Tranmeres coaching mentality has to change if we are going to kick on in games that could. That could easily have been another "We had all the play they had two shots and scored two we deserved to win".

Yes great series of results but we shouldn't be hanging on in injury time against a team like Torquay Cheltenham put 4 past Bromley today we looked fantastic first half playing football why change it?

Re: Match Discussion: Torquay United (H)

Comfortable first half in which we finally took a deserved lead through GTF's great strike. Thought we would kick on and win the game comfortably as Torquay looked poor. Don't know what was said at half-time as we seemed to lose any sense of purpose and we allowed them to look average (an improvement on first half!) and make the game nervy. A win's a win as many have said and in relation to the second half, who said football should be entertaining! Positives: two good goals and another three points. Negative: when are we going to win another game comfortabley? Seems a long time since the Bromley win at home. We are now in a great position with a great string of wins but still don't look confident and composed enough to kill games off. Fans were mostly very positive today so can't blame them for putting undue pressure on the team; in fact the support was great from the Kop when we were under pressure at the end. Although the wins are undoubtedly the most important thing, would be good to do it in style or am I asking too much?

Gtf had a great first half some lovely bits of skill and the goal was class. Let's hope he can start playing like that every game. The first half was a comfortable performance against a terrible team. I thought we should have put the game to bed in the first half. Second half was not a good performance. Long balls to a isolated Norwood. He took his goal well and worked non stop again he really is a great player. We started letting them in the game because we was sitting back again. The back four done a job apart from their goal. Ball watching and had switched off after our goal. Their number 10 come in the game at half time and looked their only decent player. Not a perfect performance but a important 3 points and another win SWA .......

I'm astounded by the whinging after three straight wins and 5 wins from the last 6!

We sat back for about 8 minutes (NOT "the second half") and yet in spite of this we were never troubled in those final moments and always looked the most likely to score again.

As for the other 82 minutes, we were on top totally throughout with some neat play at times mixed in with lumping it forward I admit but we did play some good stuff.

I said last week that Bromley was a relatively complete performance from us but today was even more so in my opinion - we are moving in the right direction now which I never doubted we would.

However this clearly isn't good enough it seems!

I have to disagree with your comment that we sat back for the last 8 minutes[about]. Did you not see the huge gap between the midfield and Norwood in the second half. There was no need for that.Torquay replace Barrow as the worst team I've seen this season Yet we sat back and invited them onto us in the second half.

Today was an excellent opportunity to improve the goal difference which was spurned and yet it could have ended up being another Kidderminster which would have been farcical considering how poor Torquay were.

I think we missed Hughes a lot today but at the end of the day,we have got the three points which is all that really matter. So onwards to the Southport game.

Seriously content with the second half performance? I'm astounded too! We played what arguably looked like the worst team in the division. I have recognised the significance of the results of late but can not accept that there is not room for some improvement in the quality of our football at times. Our pride has taken a big fall if we have lost the desire for more complete performances. Do we have to be positive about absolutely everything!! If we are not we are just whingers and idiots. I can think of words that may offensively describe those who I disagree with but choose to rise above it. In some respects I admire your unfaltering faith but I'm a realist and will express my thought with this in mind. Shame we have to be so mindful in what we say for fear of upsetting others, yet the same courtesy is not forthcoming. Football is a matter of opinions so each to their own but let's not insult because we disagree.

Totally right there, Phil.

We handed the initiative to them in the second half and the second goal was a bit of a relief.

If we had slung GTF up front and played 4-4-2, I reckon it would have been comfortable. As it was, we were hanging on a little bit.

However, we won and are now in the playoff zone so let's focus on those positives. A win next week will firmly remind our rivals that we are well and truly a force to be reckoned with.

i get what your saying mate but I think we should stop thinking about Cheltenham. I know with them coming down with us they are a benchmark but they have clearly managed to dispatch the 'tinpots' which is something we have struggled with. So I'm happy with squeeking past the supposed whipping boys if this league and showing what really are all about when we face the thoroughbreds of this league

There's no whinging, it's just saying what was seen. The first half we were brilliant. No exaggeration. We looked like a side in fifth giving the out if form club a lesson.

The frustration came in 'the second half' not 8 minutes. It was apparent from the off we'd changed our formation and game plan. They hadn't and we invited them to play against us.

Everyone's opinion is different, but personally I love watching us play well. Glad you enjoyed the second half.

Decent enough first half, massive loss at half time McNulty going off, I'm sure he would have done something about the dross we served up in the second half, it really looked like we hadn't learnt any lessons, got away with Norwood's goal which was a yard offside when the ball was played, thought the game cried out for a decent forward who could hold the ball up against a strong defender and then play it off to a supporting player, Vaughan has come on leaps and bounds and my MOM was Ihiekwe. Torquay offered very little but I cannot understand Brabins need to play Norwood up front on his own. Big game next week, let's hope we keep the run going.

Am I happy with the win, yes. Am I thrilled with our second half perfprmance, no. Playing Norwood as a lone striker at home against Torquay I just dont understand why we did that.At one stage when their back four had the ball we had six players in a line in our own half.Just because we won does'nt mean we cant have a moan.Against better team's we might not get away with sitting back.

Completely disagree. Maynard won two towering headers in the build up to the GTF goal and if you're talking about a red card for an elbow then Torquay should have been down to ten men for exactly that (an elbow) but can't recall Maynard doing anything as bad as that one!

The facts are guys, we deserved to win the game on the first half performance alone however, once again our inability to convert very good chances could have cost us again.

Second half we started brightly enough and should have scored almost straight away but, two of our players got in each others way (can't remember which two?).

Whilst Ritchie Sutton was solid as usual, we missed Steve McNulty second half and I am convinced if he had stayed on the second half would have been more comfortable, as their forwards didn't get a look in first half.

I do understand the comments about the second half, we did stand off too much allowing Torquay to gain in confidence and cause us long suffering fans moments of anxiety I for one could do with out.

Another 5000 plus crowd yesterday and I would have thought the majority went away happy but, as always there is room for improvement.

Jack of all Trades is right to say there is room for improvement as well as praising the first half. We definitely tailed off badly in the second half and it exposed our Achilles heel - only one up front.

I accept the idea of keeping a settled team but we have to be a bit more adventurous at home, particularly against the lower teams.

Even in the modern game, it's ok to play 4-4-2!!

I think it's hard to be over critical after 3 straight wins. Do I agree with the setup at home? NO. Do I think better teams will punish us if we let them have the ball and sit back all game? Yes.

We won, and that's the main thing. I didn't really enjoy it, bar two quality strikers from GTF and Norwood, but if wins like that mean getting promoted I will take it all day long.

I'm afraid to say though we look a long way from a team capable of promotion.
