Biggest game of the season so far. We have to win, but a draw wouldn't be the end of the world. I'm going for 3-3

1-0 as usual a bit wishful thinking 3goals

2-0 with Higdons first goal for the rovers!

I had a strange dream last night that we were losing 0-3, but jake kirby scored a late hat trick to save us

Keep Higdon on the bench and play one of the young guns. Tranmere win 2-0.

They went to extra time and penalties in the Trophy on Weds (losing to Halifax) so will hopefully be still feeling it on Sat.
We could and would have won by a cricket score up there but for Brabin putting the brakes on at HT. It has got to happen once this season so I am going for an early goal and sending off followed by a hatful. 5-0. Now where did I leave my pills.

The Gateshead defence is very porous so even we should be able to score against them. We really do need to be scoring more than one. It is unrealistic to think that we can always get a clean sheet between now and the end of the season. We need to be winning rather than drawing games,especially at home,with so many contending the play off spots

ive just been studying their results so far this season and there have certainly been some strange scorelines. neil aspin appears to be doing a fairly decent job since he took over just over 3 months ago. regarding their recent form, they havent found the net in their last 4 away games. 3 goalless draws and a heavy 4~0 loss at dover. they seem to be a bit of an enigma to me.

A difficult one to call. They are capable of scoring goals and the defence has five or six clean sheets recently, while we are not prolific scoring but the defence is solid. Going to be tight. With a positive start from us we can win the game.

Nice to see Higdon being given a decent chance by the fans just like many other players before him!

I haven't done my prediction yet but I reckon probably a 2-1 win but a 1-0 would do me fine!

Is that in jest Hoots or a real possibility? Travelling up from down south tomorrow for the game setting off at 8am and any heads up would be appreciated?

As my garden currently looks more like the lake in Birkenhead Park I would say it's not impossible that the pitch is deemed unfit. Unlikely, but if it keeps on pouring down it is a possibility.

I live nearly 50 miles away from Birkenhead so I'm only going by here-it didn't stop snowing till after three thirty and was well underway when I got up this morning.I would have thought that a waterlogged or icy pitch is a real possibility.

Pretty much all of the snow has missed us locally (Wirral), its a bit wet, but not enough to waterlog a pitch. Dont think you have any worries with the match going ahead. No frost either.

It's a big game this one looking forward for a 2 - 1 win

in work so cant make it but a 1-0 win to us as we cant score many goals

I cannot understand how they are so high up the table.

They have scored only 1 less goal, but conceded 15 more and their goal difference is -5.

Counter that with Borehamwood, and they are 19th with a -4 goal difference but 20 points behind, the goal difference stats would make you think they should be better off than or slightly behind Gateshead, but by slightly behind you'd think a point or 3, not 20 points.

A bit baffling how Gateshead are doing so well, looking at that, however recent form looks stable, but the goal difference still suggests they should be miles off the pace.

If the defense goes awol Tranmere should win comfortably, unless the goals completely dry up, which is a slight possibility as the team is not free flowing at the moment and I think the midfield as a whole need to step up a little bit more, as the strikers are not consistently providing as a whole, so a little more support from midfielders wouldn't go amiss.

I still think Tranmere can win however, but as always a good tonking of someone would be nice, but a 1-0 is all that is required.

Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.

I'm going for 0-0 but hoping for 3-1. If we can't score against these jokers then we need shooting

Most complete performance of the season for me (at home). Nice to see a cross from the wing put in by a striker as I had forgot what it looked like. We looked a good unit today tired at the end and took our foot off the peddle but all in all a really good performance. Well done the lads (and the manager)

yup, best home performance this season. We are looking really solid and well managed at the moment. Its even better looking at the quality we have on the bench too. Harris will struggle to get back in the side when he returns from suspension. Higdon made a nice few head ons and touches today, should get better as he gets fitter. Mekki and Norwood again outstanding. Jenno is the captain we always wanted him to be. Nice to be a happy Tranmere fan again! SWA

Agreed. Not sure we took our foot off the pedal as much as we just got really sloppy and nervous after their goal. It was a shame because we were just starting to play with some real freedom and aggressive intent.

We were in control and very comfortable until that point, without being totally dominant. Jennings, I thought, was excellent. Higdon is a big lump and lazy, but he definitely adds something and if he could play as well with his feet as he can with his chest he would've very useful. Took his header well. It was easy, but you can't really take the chance any better.

Good performance today and great goal from open play, got sloppy at 3-0. Jennings very good today and Hughes did well on the ball. No spot in team for Harris or Maynard for me, leave the starting 11 as is.

I think we got sloppy as we got tired. I think we completely dominated the game and put in a lot of hard work and effort. Totally understandable that we got a bit leggy towards the end

But the goal in the second sparked us into some excellent attacking play, and it was only the flukey goal kick that led to their goal that stopped the second half becoming a rout.

Not a great fan of Higdon who fails in lots of areas, but to come to his defence he does win headers in the way Jim Steele did for us in the past those Flick down header's what's lacking is Muiry running on to them.

There was one particular at the Cowshed end flicked out to the right side of the penalty area just waiting for someone to ghost in,but nobody came Aldo was not there and Muiry failed to arrive. I think the players we have fail to see these type of openings. Norwood puts his shift in but he's not a poacher type of player.

Yep. Something we've been sorely missing imo. Good run, great cross. Great awareness of the potential for a break with the throw out too.

I still don't feel much about Higdon. Godwin Antwi could have scored from that cross. He didn't seem to do much really and can't see how he's being picked over GTF who at least gets about a bit.

He scored and contributed to the result, which was a decent result and makes things harder for other teams.

Dover have 9 points in hand, but need at least 5 to overtake Tranmere in theory. I'm just disappointed that they couldn't draw against Woking when 1-0 up, they got sloppy and forgot concede .

Points in the bag though and onward and upwards hopefully.

Dover don't have any points in hand. They have three games in hand which, if they win them all,would give them 9 points.

He won more than his fair share against centre halves who were hanging off him, I thought he played very well. As for his goal being easy, Ive lost count of how many easy headers we've had at goal this season that didn't even hit the target.

I expected a bigger attendance today.

i have slated higdon but today credit were credit is due, i think i only saw him lose out on 4 out of about 20 headers, and at 2-0, 3-0 and 3-1 whenever the ball was comming to him you could see he trying to setup norwood for his 3rd with every pass thats the type of player you want, someone who is happy to assist someone else but take his own chances when the come his way.

reckon the first pen was handball, not so convinced with the decision for the 2nd one though, but not complaining, lol.

just viewed the pens again, like last week at chester , mekki makes a meal of it, but again not complaining.

Great win and another 3 points. We was the much better team all-round. But after their goal they started playing and moving the ball around well. I glad they did not play like that from the start. The header and cross was class. I spoke to him after the match and he was made up he got his goal. Mekki and Kirby are a handful for anyteam.

Just watched the goals again. Don't know if anyone else noticed but I was impressed with Jenno when Norwood took both penalties. He timed a run from 10 yards outside the box so that if there was a rebound he'd beat the three flat footed defenders. Small thing but shows effort, thought and commitment.

Yes I noticed to ,if it came back off the keeper he would be first there .another one woke up and starting to show what he can do Tranmere are like Liverpool the quicker the tempo the better they play and mekki and Kirby can be a handful ,love to see Kirby be a success .i don't like to admit I could have been wrong about Brabin but it looks as things are starting to come together lets really hope so ,nothing to fear but fear it's self

Lots of positives from Saturday but the jury's out for me over Higdon. I'd feel a lot happier if he was fitter but manager Brabin obviously feels he brings sufficient to the team to warrant inclusion for now.
