Following this afternoon's highly entertaining 1-1 draw at home to automatic promotion chasing Forest Green Rovers in the National League, we are asking you to vote for you Tranmere Man of the Match from the game as part of our post-match poll series.
Tranmere dominated most of the game and in spite of a good start which saw three decent early chances, two of which fell to Jeff Hughes, it was the visitors who took an undeserved lead with their first real venture into the Rovers half. A long ball forward wasn't dealt with at the back and Carter was gifted the chance to poke home to make it 1-0 to Forest Green.
Rovers continued to press after falling behind whilst Forest Green spent much of the game, fouling, cheating or booting the ball away when things didn't go their way. Sadly though for the home faithful Rovers went in still 1-0 behind at the break but deservedly hit back almost immediately at the start of the second half.
A wonderful through ball from Taylor-Fletcher found Harris in the clear and after a couple of controlling touches he fired past Arnold to make it 1-1. Shortly after as Forest Green cleared a Rovers corner away, Jon Parkin stamped on James Norwood who had fallen to the floor but the only people in the ground not to see it were the referee and his assistant on the Main Stand side.
Some justice was done shortly affterwards as Darren Carter was sent off for a silly second booking but despite continuing to dominate the play and being the only side looking likely to win, Tranmere were unable to capitalise and had to settle for a 1-1 draw.

But he[and others]should be making those runs no matter who has the ball.

Agreed, but maybe the players are aware of the poor quality of balls into and around the box as has been mentioned on here.
When you've got a player who you KNOW can make things like that happen, compared to some one who may or may not, your going to have more confidence to make runs and have the movement we did on Saturday.
It's a real jigsaw at the moment, I'd love to see Margetts up top with Norwood & GTF behind them, but then who misses out from Jenno, Hughes & Harris in the middle?

You have to ask the question would GTF have been in the team if Higdon had been fit.
Having seen his performance against Chester last Monday, There is no way Brabin would of been able to defend a decision to play Higdon ahead of GTF (yes, I know he'd try!)
I can see why Harris' comments don't sound too good but I guess there are reasons behind what he was trying to get at!
I wouldn't be at all surprised if Taylor-Fletcher left in the Summer and not a single player was even 5% more creative and skillful for having observed and played along side him and was never quoted as owing some of their new found skill to his presence and occasional bits of higher level mastery.
You would think Norwood and other players would be itching to know his secrets about wind taming and 15 yard curly passes into the space, so they could improve the teams quality, but so far no such murmurings of improvement with Taylor-Fletcher being around have emanated, so I can only assume other players marvel at him like some kind of Ally Bongo of the football world, not realising he would not be breaking any secret codes, by revealing how you tame wind and nail curly passes.
Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.

I guess if a player makes the run (Harris in this case) and the ball does end up being poor we're at risk of then being caught out in the centre.
Probably more simple than that, just a case of pointless if you know the ball isn't arriving. Thing is though you have to make the runs to create the space for someone to play the killer ball even if it's not to you. After all these months has the reason for the lack of goals just been coughed by Harris, ironically after scoring one??
