Lincoln to lose by some kind of scoreline, with Fenwick scoring or setting up at least 1.

Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.

have a good feeling that good friday will be living up to its name and it will be a good friday. going for 3~1 to the rovers. hoping i can get a decent computer stream to watch the game later. will only be the 3rd time for me to see them this season. the previous 2, being the televised games at welling n grimsby. can also vote for my man of the match for the 3rd time this season. voted for scott davies at welling and matt hill at grimsby.. lets hope my man of the match tonight is this new striker with a hat trick on his debut... massive weekend coming up and pray to god that the teams that we need to screw up do just that.

I won't reveal what score I think it will be for Prediction League purposes as I fight to win the League but I'm just hoping we don't make it three defeats and one draw against a team known for playing incredibly ugly football but succeeding at it (certainly against us this season anyway!)

I seem to have got a decent stream. they've just interviewed mr palios, Ronnie moore and paul hurst on the pitch pre game. talked about rebuilding the club, Ronnie said he was mightily impressed with all the new work in the function suites and hospitality etc. Ronnie mentioned that when he played in the states that he scored in a game which featured the great pele. nice sunny day back home, cmon the rovers.

Lucky 3 points (for a change), just not good enough this year we can not moan if we miss out. Wish he would play Mekki Kirby Hughes from the start, Mekki always brings goals and Kirby looked good with a neat finish, Fenwick looks like hes happy to shoot bin GTF for the last 6 Nowrwood & Fenwick up top please.

Lucky deflection vs 10 men after 38 mins well done......3 points made up but we look terrible again. For a team in the run off for the playoffs we look poor. I would think that all the teams in the playoffs hope they get us cause we look the weakest team.........

I thought we were the best team by miles and should have scored a bagful. 2 sloppy defensive lapses let them back in. We'll have to do better and full credit to them for keeping a positive approach when down to 10 men.

well I was lucky enough to get a full uninterrupted stream of the game. loved the interviews with palios, Ronnie, brabin n paul hurst. jimmy Harvey in the stands as was Robbie fowler. on to the game, woeful opening 30 mins and nearly nodded off but livened up with the goals. woeful static defending from us for their 1st goal. we should have killed it off with the chances we had early in 2nd half. credit to Lincoln for not giving up with 10 men. was impressed with Kirby and thought he was our best player until he got subbed. thought hughes did ok and mekki is a livewire. disappointed with GTF and he looked out of puff when he went off. should have killed the game off though and thought at times at set pieces our defence looked a bit uncomfortable. thankfully rhead went off for them but his replacement looked lively. healthy attendance considering it was on tv live. bast#rds Braintree won. anyway happy with the 3pts and that's what matters this stage of season. the game as a whole was a much better spectacle 2nd half and we deserved the win. on to kiddy on Monday cmon the rovers!

Two defensive lapses but, missed 3 or4 clear cut chances before their second goal.

Their manager changed tactics and brought two speedy players on which caused us trouble.

We could and should have won be a far greater margin and in the were reliant on a deflection to win.

The most important thing is the win and the three points.

I' only watched the game on TV but the game I saw we should have been out of sight well before they scored there 2nd brabin can't be blamed for that it was bad finishing or decision making by the players thus putting pressure on the defence which on more than 2 occasions looked shaky we definitely deserved to win that game

More chances, yes, but they were comfy until the penalty, we really need some composure they cleared two or three from the line however we just hit it aimlessly down the middle at them, even the penalty he should really have scored, but give them credit for that they did the basics well and were unlucky. It's so frustrating watching us this year this isn't a division were you can win 1-0 week in week out, we need to accept (we being Brabin) that we will conceded goals maybe two or three a week and instead score 4, it seems to be the way at this level and the lack of goals is really going to hurt us. Teams get back in numbers and we seem to aid them by getting into the 18 yard box then stopping for a look around got a be more decisive but Gateshead went down, Eastleigh drew, hopefully they both go on a poor run they are due one and we can keep winning. Come On!

gave me a good chance to look at norwood today. he is not an out n out striker, seems as if weve needed one all season long. he seems more like a good old fashioned inside forward.

A fully deserved three points in the end albeit against ten men but there can be no arguments about the red card or the penalty.

I also agree with the view that Kirby should not have gone off and yet a lot of fans (certainly near me) did nothing but slate GTF and Kirby for the whole second half until they went off and yet after GTF's departure we fell flat in my opinion.

Mekki got into the game after a while but after initially coming on didn't make an instant impact certainly compared to what Kirby had been doing.

A great game, a great win and back in the play-offs! Happy Easter!

Personally I thought GTF played well. Link up play WA excellent, nice and beat on the ball and worked the defenders well.
As much as I'd like Kirby to do well he fluffed the best two chances in the game and if the ball isn't played into space he can't beat a man from a standing start.

Norwood can't be faulted for effort but he is not a natural striker. He should be a very useful and threatening attacking winger but for me he isn't naturally a number 9.

Re: Match Discussion: Lincoln City (H)

I have said this before and got a lot of grief, but seems others now saying it. We need to push Norwood to the wing, he doesn't give us anything as the main striker.
Very disappointed with the subs today, we picked them before kick off I said to mate mekki for Kirby on 70 mins and fenwick for gtf with 10 to go. They were the easy option no real change decided prior to kick off. Should have been fenwick for one of midfield drop Norwood to wing with 30 mins to go, change it about a bit.
Lots of chances just needed a cool head.
I thought gtf did well, bringing people in with some clever balls, we had no guile with him off.
Good win but should have been comfortable to be honest. We need to kill games off, but still in with a chance of playoffs

Yep a deserved win IMO. Pretty much bossed it, and if we could finish we could of had 5 or 6 easily. Davies had a proper clanger but redeemed himself with that top corner save. Kirby was great, i thought the game went flat when Mekki came on for him. GTF was really good i thought, hes a big threat from a link up play point of view, but really should be scoring goals at this level. Little bewilldered when Brabin swapped GTF for Fenwick, when we were crying out for 3 up front to get the winning goal. Think lady luck was on our side in the end... after thinking all that, have to hand it to Mekki for the winning goal. Ihekwie MoM for me.

Living in Frodsham now I thought to save on the funds and watch it on tv .watching on tv you see a lot more than in the stands GFT was woeful apart from a few nice passes he is far to slow .i think Mekki made a difference when he came on running at their . defence ,but on the whole very poor plus same old thing missed chances and iffy defence .on the plus side Prenton park looked excellent with a good crowd totally wasted in this division and a lot better stadium than most league 1&2 clubs ,however a win is a win

Can't complain at that. We had 3 saved off the line!

How Mekki can claim that I don't know, he crossed it!

Also, the only negative for me. At 2-2, why didn't we go 3-4-3?

A woeful first thirty odd minutes until our penalty and the sending off.Superbly placed penalty by Norwood-the keeper went the right way but still didn't stand an earthly. Hilarious that the defender was still claiming it was his chest as he walked off. Does he not know what the two things that hang down the sides of his body are called?

Bad marking for their first goal-their player moved and Vaughan stood still watching. Somebody else nearby slipped.

Well taken goal by Jake after GTF hooked it back in.

Second half-those astonishing 3 or 4 double misses-amazing all of them glaring. We should have been well out of sight. But as usual we make things hard for ourselves.......

Give Lincoln credit though-down to ten men, they took the man mountain off and put nippier smaller subs on and had a real go. Their second goal-the player McDaid was not well marked but it was a superb header right in the top corner. Davies made one top class save too.It could have been about 7-4.

Then came the 'fluke'-all's well that ends well.Very entertaining eventful second half.

I was surprised McNulty got sponsors MOM as I thought that he and Ihiekwe had their most uncomfortable match that I've seen since they started playing alongside each other.Kirby should not have been subbed IMO. But three points are three points. So we all should be happy.

I thoroughly enjoyed the second half with Lincoln playing their part in a fast open game. Yes Rovers showed all the shortcomings they have displayed for most of the season and could easily have had another 3 goals but didn't! We could also have conceded goals to a side that raised their game as some do when down to 10 men with their manager showing astute awareness of what was needed to cause our defence embarrassment!

We had some luck today but deserved the points and there were a number of positives to take from the game. Kirby has come on leaps and bounds and could easily step up a grade. His confidence has grown enormously. Ihiekwe has become an accomplished defender thanks to playing alongside McNulty and Hughes is a class player. Vaughan also continues to impress and we have the makings of a decent side.

I am now looking forward to the next three games all of which are winnable and would lead us very close to a playoff place. I think we need 80 points and that is still achievable.

By the way does anyone know where Maynard was today. Was he injured?

Roll on Monday and Kiddie!!

Adam Mekki is certainly no wonder kid who can turn a game as soon as he steps on the pitch but I do think his attacking intent is a positive.

However, we all have our opinions about players and also ones who we like and dislike.

It seems a bit like your player that you don't like is Mekki and you can't see anything positive from him. Isn't this the same attitude that other posters on here have about other players and the manager as well?

I disagree with you but I respect that you have the right to be critical about a member of the team and therefore we all have the right to be critical about others.

I am not having a go at you here deadly, I just feel that part of being part of being a supporter is giving valid criticism when it's due. We shouldn't hide away from that for fear of appearing disloyal or unsupportive.

I have no dislike for Mekki at all just think he's overrated by the fans and has contributed little in the last few games.

Especially away at Dover. His fitness levels are still poor which is why he often needs to be substituted in the last twenty to thirty minutes of games.

In the time he was on Mekki got to the byline three times and put a cross in after beating one or more defenders.
Admittedly being on the kop I had a better view of Mekki second half than Kirby first half but I would say he did more than Kirby in that respect.

I just wish Kirby would play to his strengths more and take up amp sitcom where he could run on to the ball and beat the defender for pace

Thought overall we deserved the win today , would have been really unjust if we didn't . First half resembled a game of head tennis ! Myself and many around in the Kop shouting to get it down and play it to feet . Quite a few times in the first half Ihiekwe , McNulty , jenno all had time to bring it down and lay it off but the headers continued ! Came out second half and kept it down and played some nice stuff ( much like second half against FG ) . Disappointed both Lincoln goals same , free headers at back post , but all we can do is concentrate on what we do and hope other results go our way . Kept going till the end . Still need better quality balls into the box though , in a few games this season I think that has made the difference between us winning and losing / drawing . More possession in games but lack of quality in final third .

Tranmre deserved the win, but they should have won by a bigger margin and as for Norwwod he is decent striker, but he needs to develop a more all round game, as about 1/3 of his goals this season has come from penalties, so his form is being massed a tad by the penalties and if he could find a way to get a slightly more rounded game I think he could be a player with 15 goal L1 potential and 20 goal L2 potential.

The midfield should back up a little more as well, as the occasional Jennings wonder strike, like the one two years ago against Notts County, can be great to look at, but a bit more quantity would be nice. I'm not saying loads of them, but even another 3 or 4 from him right now would be nice, if Tranmere had another 5-6 points because of them.

Ironic a little given the nature of 2 of the goals against Lincoln, and good for Kirby to score though and Mekki too, but in general the midfield could have added another 8-10 this season I think.

Tranmere still need to find a way of creating a better conversion of chances however.

Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.

ive noticed that on all the post match comments from ydays game that there are no complaints about the officials so would i be right in saying that we had a fairly decent referee for yesterdays game. i know that a lot of supporters on the forum have said that some refs this season have been abysmal. thought the ref yesterday was ok. there were a few questionable decisions from him but he seemed decent enough.

Agree with Matt, we need another 2 or 3 on double figures for goals next year. The trouble has certainly been home form we almost mirror top of of the league stats wise however weve lost 7 at home on par wirh the bottom four to their one home loss. Needs to be a fortress next tear whatever division we are in. Gonna do something unusual here an side with Brabin, maybe just maybe the crowd has had a part to play in that, not the abuse but the anxiety were so used to seeing us loose its almoet like we expect it maybe Palios should bring the fanzone inside the ground!

I feel the Mekki malaise is misguided. Recent posts from opposition fan's forums include "changed the game when he came on", "looked dangerous"-admittedly not deadly!! There are others of a similar vein. It can be easy to miss what is right under your own nose. He has won us vital penalties in recent games and scored the winner yesterday (a goal is a goal!!!!); hardly "contributing little" in my eyes. I think he is underrated by some. I have been critical of him during some games but have also recognised the quality moments he has provided. Strange that it's not been classed as a wonder substitution with him scoring the winner; we can be hyper-cynical at times. Just to add fuel to the fire, my son has stated that "Mekki is our Messi"; now that is a little misguided and I need to work on his football knowledge! How we all see the game differently.

Mekki is probably our most skilful player in terms of ability to beat a man, but I can't shake the feeling that we are a better team and more dangerous when Kirby plays.

While I've complained about the toxic atmosphere earlier in the season and its potential negative impact on the team, I don't think you can force a good atmosphere either. The team has to play with passion for the crowd to respond really. I'm surprised the atmosphere wasn't better yesterday though - decent crowd, important game, tough opposition, we played fairly well overall but it just seemed a bit dead.

Referencing Hoots' post quite a while back. I was very surprised at McNulty getting MOM too. While it is easy to pick out Vaughan failing to track the forward, probably because he thought Harris, who slipped, was covering him (poor defending anyway you cut it), McNulty went AWOL in the build up, charging out of position to head a ball away that he got nowhere near. This pulled the whole defence out of shape for the cross that led to the goal. In my opinion you can point the finger at McNulty for both their goals to some extent. The worst performance I've seen by him for a while, but everyone at this level will have off days.

We are all entitled to our opinions.Mine is obviously vastly different to yours and others and I stick to it. I have seen him play enough times home and away to formulate my thoughts on him. He works hard normally but there's not enough end product. Recently he was a disgrace at Dover, poor against Forest Green and, apart from the fluky goal, contributed zilch yesterday IMO.We were much better when Kirby was on.

Well Hoots, you moaned about the Dover performance. Dover won next home game 4-1 and are now 3-0 up before half time. In light of those scores 0-0 was pretty respectable.

Braintree still to play- forest green, grimsby, gateshead, wrexham

dover still to play- wrexham, grimsby, forest green.

there is still hope for us.

Sorry but disagree. Dover were nothing special that day but we made it easy for them by playing for a 0-0 draw from the start, whereas they played to win.

But they didn't win, and have won two home games 4-1 and 5-0 since. That suggests that tactics were spot on to get a point.

Well unlike their last two matches they didn't score against us so that suggests it does!

They were playing Lincoln[who we could and possibly should have scored seven against yesterday] and Torquay[who are the worst team I've seen this season]

By the way,you never did answer my comment of 1843hrs 15th March on the ''Memo to Mr Brabin'' thread as to whether you yourself actually went to Dover?

Just watched the second half on telly and I missed the sending off and as a consequence I forgot that they only had ten men.

What added to my confusion was the fact that we didn't look like we had a man extra and helped Lincoln by launching it long too much.

I would like to see us knocking it around a bit more and keeping hold of the ball a bit, a tactic that would have helped us to control the last two home games against teams with a man sent off.
