The second coming is not a resurrection

The saviour returns, but Jesus! Looks like he isn't going to save us. Mellon is renown for slow starts and all that, seems we just have to get used to the taste of stale Dundee cake.
I was never convinced that Mellon coming back would transform us. It seeemd odd that he wanted to come back. He headed north and turned his back on us. The change of heart looked suspicious. Why go if the intention was to return? Odd.
So far it's been typically Mellon. Odd signings, turgid tactics and a team that doesn't quite jell. The biggest problem though is our lack of a goal scorer. We seem to have nobody up front who can put the ball in the back of the net. Transfer deadline day saw the arrival of Nick Maynard. Not the most inspiring of signings. Mansfield fans, where he played last season, weren't heartbroken to see him go. Rovers appear to have a policy of picking up forwards coming towards the end of their career and hoping they aren't beyond their sell by date. It's a policy that is like going into Asda at the end of the day, hoping that all the stuff that has been marked down will come out tasty. Then there are players like Glatzel, a bright Anfield prospect who hasn't set the world on fire and looks ill suited to the challenges of League 2 football.
Meanwhile other players get frozen out. Chris Merrie was excellent in the opening game against Walsall. Seems that our man from Dundee doesn't see it this way, preferring to play Kieran Morris in a role he is neither suited for or effective in. I wonder if we look at players before we sign them or just look at how much they want paying? Our recruitment strategy is incomprehensible. And what's the point of having a youth policy if none of the younger players get break in to the first team or are given a chance?
Yet, Mellon has done this twice before. In both his previous promotion seasons we started badly and then gained promotion. Nothing is won in September is it? I just wish we could have a season where we play great football start to finish. Right now that seems like a pipe dream.

Don’t stop, Kav, I’m begging you. This is the one, the Mersey paradise, here it comes, it won’t be be bye bye bad man but love spreads around not fools gold. I don’t want to shoot you down like Sally Cinnamon, as she bangs the drum. I just want to be adored. I’m stand here where angels play with Elizabeth my dear. We should be all for one with one love and a beautiful thing and by the end of the season we will be celebrating like we’re breaking into heaven and hopefully not going down. 😉
It hasn't been great but we still have 8 points in 7 games. MM has them all week in training and you can see his frustration at the end of the game on Saturday. If both of the times we hit the post had snuck in where winning 2-1 and in the play off places.
Far too early for the Meff brigade calling for his head. Shambles that goodison behaviour.
