Simeu to the rescue

After so many failures, it looks like we have a loan signing that is making a real difference. Dynel Simeu is a monster of a defender. He commands the box, is surprisingly agile for a large fella and seems to have made an impact. 

People see him as a saviour. That wasn't my initial thought when I saw him at Orient, he came on as a sub and looked immobile and off the pace. However, in subsequent games he's gained fitness and improved. His performance against Walsall was excellent, and even in the match against Bradford he stood out as being cultured and applied.

Rumour has it that Southampton have a January recall clause. It would just be our luck to have found a great loan signing only for him to dissepear for the 2nd half of the season. Too often players on loan pass through a club and make little impact, not Dynel. Even if he were to go back tomorrow there are many Rovers fans that would hold him in high regard. He has represented England at U17 and U18 level, and had time on loan at Carlisle last season. I suspect he will end up with more international caps, if not for England then for Cameroon. Doubtless, if Jackie Charlton were still alive, he would already have made his debut for Ireland. 

For now we just have to appreciate and enjoy his emerging talent. He is working well alongside Jordan Turnbull and gets better by the minute. If at the end of his loan period we leave him with fond memories of Rovers, and the kudos of being part of a promotion winning side, everyone will be happier. He's only 20 years old, but will stay in our memories for years to come.
