The loneliness of the long distant run in
Tranmere Crest

We are now truly in squeaky bum territory. We have dropped like a stone and are caught in a relegation battle. I’ve decided to look at the games that all the clubs below us have got coming up. Interestingly many of the bottom clubs play each other, so the notional home and away points available isn’t what it seems. We play 4 of our relegation rivals in the run in. The same is true for Harrogate. Cheltenham have 5 matches involving clubs in the relegation battle. However we have one game against a team in the top 3. By comparison Barrow have 3 games against the top 3 candidates.

I will look at this all again at the start of April. In simple terms we need to start winning some games. Given our recent form that’s a big ask.

The simple equation really is don't lose to the teams around us Bd we should be fine
Newport (A)
Harrogate (H)
Cheltenham (A)
Shrewsbury (A)
Bristol Rovers (H)
We may even fluke some points against Oldham (H) and Fleetwood (A)
Whatever happens this season, without major changes on and off the pitch, we would be the bookies favourites next season for relegation for sure.

Yes we are in a terrible run of form, but by definition most of the other teams in the relegation battle are also in poor form otherwise they wouldn't be there.

No not strictly, over the season so far they are poor , but we got our points early on theyve picked theirs up late on. We are rock bottom since Christmas, Harrogate, Newport and Shrewsbury are mid table.
