League One News Round Up:

Luton moved back the top of League One after they saw off strugglers Stockport 3-0 at Kenilworth Road whilst Hull were held to a 2-2 draw at home to another struggling side Peterborough.

As readers of this site will well know, Tranmere cemented further their third position after running out 5-1 winners away at crisis club Wrexham.

The sides just below Tranmere, Sheffield Wednesday and Bristol City were both held to draws against Bournemouth and Bradford respectively as the results largely went Rovers’ way on Saturday.

The only teams in the bottom ten of the League who managed three points were MK Dons at home to Colchester and Tranmere’s next opponents Walsall who won at home to Chesterfield.

Much has been happening in the transfer market in League One in the past week with title chasers Hull City completing the signing of Chester City winger Kevin Ellison for a fee thought top be around £100,000 with the 25 year-old signing a two-and-a-half-year contract with the Tigers. It had been thought that as part of the deal, Hull pair Jon Walters and ex-Tranmere player Richard Hinds were to move to Chester on loan but this will now not go ahead.

Blackpool have signed Serbian born Striker Zarko Grabovac who had previously been at Bloomfield Road on trial. The giant 20 year-old has agreed a contract with the Seasiders until June 2005.

Bradford City Manager Colin Todd is thought to be on the lookout for a new Striker following the return to Norwich City of loanee Zema Abbey. It is thought that one of Todd’s targets may have been Sheffield United Striker Luke Beckett who has recently moved to the Blades from Stockport County but that option was dealt a blow for Todd and when Beckett this week joined Bradford’s Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield Town on a month's loan.

Beckett has been made available for loan at his own request due to the fact that since his move to Bramall Lane back in November, his first team chances have been few and far between

Brentford meanwhile have loaned experienced striker Steve Claridge to Wycombe for a month and Milton Keynes Dons Manager Danny Wilson has snapped up Peterborough striker Clive Platt for an undisclosed fee as they battle to stay in League One.
