Rovers Announce Details of New Third Kit

Last week, Total Tranmere brought you news that Tranmere are to produce a new third kit in the autumn of 2005 and today we have an exclusive artists impression of what the shirt may look like as well as details of how fans can once again have their name on the shirt for a small fee paid in advance.
At the end of 2003, Tranmere and then kit manufacturer Xara, launched a new third kit that was unique in the sense that its fabric was to contain the names of all 4000 or so season ticket holders and when it went on sale it proved to very popular. In 2005, the club are doing the same thing again with new kit manufacturers Vanadanel but this time it is not necessarily season ticket holders who will have their names on the shirt.
Any fan who wishes to see their name on the new shirt when it goes on sale in October or November 2005, simply has to pay a fee of £10.00 and their name will appear on the shirt.
We are lucky at Total Tranmere to have an artists impression of what the shirt may look like thanks to Message Board Poster Matt Tompkins (known as Banana Army) and so here is the impression in all its glory……..
The 2003 shirt had a few problems for certain fans because a limited number of names could be put on each shirt due to the differing sizes and indeed I know of at least two season ticket holders whose names failed to appear on any shirts, meaning there was no point in them purchasing it.
This time around, the club has said that the size of the font in which the names will be written will depend on how many names are paid for but they estimate that around 3500 names will be accommodated on the Adult Extra Large Shirt, whilst on the Youth Extra Small Shirt, around 1500 names will be fitted.
The other difference between this shirt and its 2003 predecessor will be that the supporters names will be sewn in to the fabric rather than being on the actually shirt material. So how do you go about getting your name put on this shirt? The answer is simple, just pick up an Application Form from either the Club Shop or Ticket Office and return it with your £10 payment to the club by Friday June 10th 2005.
Wrexham tried to launch a similar idea with Vandanel at the start of this season following the success of Tranmere’s 2003 idea. However, Wrexham’s problems off the pitch contributed to this shirt never actually going on sale and a T-Shirt was later produced instead with supporters names on.
Other money generating initiatives that the club are currently promoting include:
‘The Wall of Fame’ – Fans still have their chance to purchase a brick in Prenton Park’s Wall of Fame which is situated at the Club Shop end of the Directors Car Park and is starting to take shape. Bricks start at £39.99 with forms available from the Club Shop. Season Ticket Holders can also get a brick for £34.99 (a £5 discount) until May 26th by producing Season Ticket Voucher L along with their payment.
