Hill Pens New Deal as Navarro Departs

It's one staying and one going today for Rovers as Assistant Manager Richard Hill signs a new two year deal to remain at Prenton Park until 2007. On the other hand, midfielder Alan Navarro has finally left Prenton Park after being out in the wilderness for several weeks after a loan spell.

Richard Hill joined Rovers in October of 2003 as assistant to newly appointed manager Brian Little having previously held the same role at Gillingham and Northampton.  Along with Brian, he has helped guide the club to the Quarter-Finals of the FA Cup last season and into the Play-Offs this season.

He has now extended his contract and will now remain at the club until May 2007.  Speaking to the Club's Official Website, Hill said "I'm very happy to carry on working at Tranmere especially with the progress we have made over the last 18 months. Its exciting times now with two important games coming up and hopefully this will continue into next season and beyond."

Brian Little added "I'm delighted Richard has signed a new contract with the Club.  We've really enjoyed working together and he is the ideal assistant for me and long may this continue."

Meanwhile, midfielder Alan Navarro's uncomfortable time at Rovers is finally over after he left the club today by consent.

Dave Watson signed Navarro for Rovers from Liverpool in January 2002 after he impressed when initially on loan at Prenton Park.  The fee was thought to be around £225,000 at the time.  He made 21 appearances in the 2001-02 season but disaster struck only weeks into his first full season at Rovers when he damaged cruciate knee ligaments and missed the entire season.

Many fans will argue he was never quite the same player when he did return to action and found it difficult to get back into the first team.  This season he had a short loan spell at Chester City followed by almost two months on loan at Macclesfield, but since his loan spell there ended he has been somewhat in the wilderness as Macclesfield did not take him on on a permanent basis before the March transfer deadline.
