Is Ryan ‘Taylor Made’ for City?

Should Tranmere fans be concerned after a National Newspaper reports that Premiership Manchester City have contacted Tranmere with an offer for the promising Rovers right wing back? The offer is believed to be in the region of £600,000 which seems rather low for a player who is important to Rovers.

Many Tranmere fans would have been concerned, but possibly not surprised to read in today’s Daily Mirror newspaper that a Premiership club has again been linked with Rovers’ promising young full back Ryan Taylor.  Taylor has recently been linked with both of Tranmere’s Merseyside neighbours Liverpool and Everton but now a new club is rumoured to have joined the chase and also to have contacted Tranmere with an offer.

 

Manchester City under newly appointed manager Stuart Pearce, are believed to offered around £600,000 to Rovers to acquire the services of the  year old defender who has been at Tranmere since his teens.

 

So is it likely he will depart Prenton Park during the summer?  Only last December, Ryan signed a new contract that would keep him at the club until 2008 but the lure of the Premiership may well be too much to resist for a player who clearly has the talent to succeed at a higher level of football than his current club are playing.

 

Everton manager David Moyes was at Prenton Park on Tuesday night for Rovers 2-0 win and subsequent penalty shoot-out defeat to Hartlepool in the League One play-off semi-final but it was not clear whether he was specifically there to watch Taylor.  If Moyes was paying any attention at all, he would have noticed a Man of the Match performance from Ryan.
