Contracts In Sight For Two, What About The Rest?

Reggae Boyz, Ian Goodison and Theo Whitmore have signed new contract deals, and will be playing in a white shirt next season and hopefully building on last seasons postion, but what about the two pondering their futures at the club and why? Are they likely to stay? Or is it to hard to tell?

It seems as though, both Tranmere's Reggae legends, Theo Whitmore and Ian Goodison have all but finally signed the dotted line, concerning their new contracts. Both have to still go through the stage of work permits, but Brian Little is confident that it will all be sorted soon.

Ian Goodison played most of the season out of position, but I think is worth his contract as he is a far better centre half and is more than capable than playing, I just hope Brian Little sees the light and starts to play him in his rightful position.

Theo, on the otherhand, has had a poor season compared to his legendary status in Jamaica. THe attacking midfielder has rarely started for Tranmere and only scored five goals. But the way he can change the game as a substitute is outstanding, perhaps this is what Brian Little has in mind, to play him in short, powerful bursts that can devistate oppostion when we are struggling or behind.

Finally someone has put their future towards their club, with so many rumours flying around concerning players at Tranmere Rovers. But I can't help but think that the club are concentrating on the wrong players. Don't get me wrong I'm glad the players have signed, but I would want to see Mark Rankine and Paul Hall back next season, more so. The two players have clouds hanging over the footballing brains. But for different reasons.

Paul Hall is currently pondering whether a one year contract from Tranmere is enough or the two year deal from Chesterfield is a better option, with him certainly looking at his future rather than his trophy cabinet.

Mark Rankine, however, is trying to see if his legs can hold him up, or it is definitely time for him to hang up his boots, that have stepped onto so many glorious pitches.

This is what Rovers manager Brian Little had to say on all four players :

"We would like to retain Paul and we would hope Mark will stay for another year. At the moment Paul looks the more difficult situation. He has one or two offers on the table and I think he is looking for a longer deal than we have offered.

"He has a year's contract offered by ourselves and at this moment in time I believe it is the right offer from the club's point of view based on how I see next season and the season after panning out.

"The two other Jamaican lads won't be a problem. We just need to sort out the work permits for them. Mark had such a good season for us that we have offered him something that will hopefully tempt him back."
