Dadi Double Helps Rovers to Victory

Rovers come from a goal down inside two minutes to win comfortably at the expense of Marine in a lively friendly encounter at Rossett Park on Tuesday. After conceding early on, Rovers levelled through Hume before Dadi added a second half brace and Chris Greenacre scored his first goal for Rovers.

 

Once again Brian Little opted for a different eleven in each half with a mix of first team and youth players in each side.  Rovers had an experienced back line of Sharps and Jackson in the first half but after just two minutes of play that line was breached by Marine to give the home side a surprise early lead.

 

A high ball forward caught Sharps ball watching and the Marine striker judged the bounce best and fired a vicious shot almost through Steve Wilson and into the net.  Rovers were not behind for long as they began to take a hold on the game and after 12 minutes the visitors were level.

 

A great passing move involving Tremarco and Zola saw the ball find Mark Rankine on the edge of the Marine penalty area and he found Iain Hume in space on the left hand side.  The Canadian cut across the area and fired past the goalkeeper from a narrow angle.

 

Aiston put up another excellent performance on the left hand side in tandem with Carl Tremarco and should have scored himself after a run into the penalty area but his shot went over the crossbar. On the half hour mark, Calvin Zola who appeared to be injured, was replaced by Chris Greenacre and it was the new signing who put in an excellent cross for Iain Hume that the Canadian headed against the post to ensure that the scores were level at 1-1 at half-time.

 

Rovers made ten changes at half-time with Greenacre having already replaced Zola and this saw the introduction of Gareth Roberts at left-back and Ian Goodison at centre back, with youngsters Paul Martin and Ollie James completing the back line.

 

Just three minutes into the second half, a Jason McAteer corner was headed goalwards by Eugene Dadi and was subsequently handled on the line by a Marine defender for a Rovers penalty which Eugene Dadi stepped up to despatch with ease and give Rovers the lead on the night.

 

After Greenacre had had a couple of chances saved, Eugene Dadi got his second and Rovers third of the night after a Gareth Roberts cross gave Dadi time and space to poke through the legs of the goalkeeper.

 

Chris Greenacre then opened his Rovers’ account when he followed up after the keeper had fumbled Paul Brown’s shot to make it 4-1 to Rovers which is how it finished although had Gareth Robert’s shot been slightly lower after a long run with the ball, the damage could have been worse for Marine.
