Son Of Birmingham Boss Set To Sign?

After the departure of right back Ryan Taylor, after he signed for Premiership newcomers, Wigan, Tranmere have been searching for a right back to fill the void.

In friendlies, centre-back Paul Linwood has been playing there, and playing well. Butit seems Rovers still have tabs on a potential signing, with reports saying a right back is close to arriving at Prenton Park.

The suspected right back is son of Birmingham boss and Manchester United legend Steve Bruce, Alex.

Alex Bruce is currently playing for Birmingham, but hasn't made an appearance. Alex does have League One experience though. Last season he spent spells on loan at both Oldham, and promoted Sheffield Wednesday.

Bruce played in all of Wednesday's play off games, including the final. Alex has impressed while on loan and has caught the eye of Rovers boss, Brian Little. Little hopes to bring the right back to Prenton Park, but admits the Linwood's fine form means he is in no rush.

Speaking to the official website, he said :

"Paul Linwood has settled in to a job at right back for the time being. We're still looking to bring somebody in who is a bit more specialist in that position but at the moment Paul will be disappointed if I leave him out.

"We know who it is we are looking for but there are a couple of things slowing it down. I've got a little bit of time and I know who I want so I'm prepared to sit and wait for a little bit. We like to think we'll get a player in before the start of the season and we'll try to do that.”

But reports seem to differ, with Alex Bruce looking to be an imminent replacement for Ryan Taylor.
