After Tuesday night's friendly encounter with Crewe Alexandra, were Tranmere won 2-0, Alex boss Dario Gradi praised Rovers performance and reserved special praise for frontmen Chris Greenacre and Calvin Zola and former Crewe trainee Mike Jackson.
Gradi admitted his centre backs were under constant pressure from the pair, and believes Rovers can go far next season.
The experienced manager said : "I thought Tranmere's front two were dangerous throughout and, by and large, our two centre-halves did well to cope with them apart from the last goal,"
"They were a handful the two of them and Brian (Little) looks as though he will have a side who will be there or thereabouts in League One next season. There wasn't a lot between the two sides and I was certainly impressed by Tranmere."
But most of Gradi's praise was for someone who he released as a youngster, where he also admitted he was wrong to do so.
"I made a mistake letting Michael go all those years ago and I'm not surprised he is still doing well.”
Definitely something to hold onto, but Gradi is known for his calm, and truthful managing. Mike Jackson had a great debut season with Tranmere and looks set to continue his form into the new season. |
