Tranmere Striker Signs On At Grimsby Town

Former Tranmere Rovers striker Gary Jones has a penned a two year deal with League Two outfit, Grimsby Town.

The former Nottingham Forest player will join up with ex-Rovers favourites Andy Parkinson and trialist Alan Navarro.

Jones, who can also play midfield and defence, was released near the end of the season and was looking for a club.

Jones started his career at Tranmere, but then opted for a new challenge with Nottingham Forest.

After Jones disappointed at Forest, he was resigned on loan by current manager, Ray Mathias. Gary impressed, earning himself a permanent deal. Under Ray Mathias, Jones played well with consistent performances but since Mathias was sacked, Jones was pushed down the pecking order, with manager Brian Little prefering the strikeforce of Iain Hume and Eugene Dadi last season. Since then Jones never got a look in and had his contracted terminated.
