Month Round Up :

Week 1 (1^st - 7^th August) – The BIG Kick Off

Rovers prepared for the big kick off to the upcoming promotion campaign, travelling to Swansea. Tranmere were the first league opponents in the brand new New Stadium, Swansea. After controlling the game, Tranmere came out with no points and suffering a 0-1 defeat, with Swansea's new striker, Bayo Akinfenwa being on the score sheet.

Week 2 (8^th - 14^th August) – A new week, and a new change in fortunes

On Tuesday 6^th, Rovers took on Blackpool for the first home game of the season, but once again despite controlling the game, Rovers didn't come out with the deserved 3 points. Tranmere went on to draw the game 2-2, with strikers Iain Hume and new signing Chris Greenacre getting the goals. The game was also a bit hard to watch for fans, seeing Rovers unable to capatilise on masses of possession.

But Friday games were back, and brought a true contender for goal of the season along with it. Tranmere hammered Oldham 4-0, Greenacre getting a brace, and defenders Roberts and Sharps completing the riot. But it was the opening goal that took everyone by storm. Oldham were looking strong, and with time closing for half time, Rovers had to pull something out of the bag. Winger Aiston done well on the right and lofted a great cross to Greenacre, who was already in mid air, and connected with a thunderous overhead kick, it crashed against the bar and bounced out, but thankfully, the linesman waved to say it had gone in!

Week 3 (15^th - 21^st August) – Away Form Continues Into New Season

At home, Tranmere are prolific, away its a totally different story. On 20^th, Rovers took on promotion seeking Brentford, who were on form, so it was inevitable when a team on a bad away record plays a team with a good home record what the outcome will be. And yes, to put you out of your misery, Tranmere went on to lose 0-2.

Week 4 (22^nd - 28^th August) – Two Shown Door, Early Cup Exit, An AWAY Win!

The week kicked off with Rovers going to Scunthorpe in hope for a cup run in the League Cup run, but as most away games, Rovers failed to capatilise on possession and failed to secure the win. But Rovers would seem hard done by. With only 10 minutes to go, Tranmere were held level 1-1, with Ian Sharps equalising for Rovers. But former Rovers player, Richard Hinds had a score to settle, and scored the winner on 82 minutes, putting Rovers out of the cup.

In between the two games in week 4, both Eugene Dadi and defender, Paul Linwood were shown the door. Dadi signed a two-year deal with League One rivals, Nottingham Forest. Paul Linwood secured a month loan deal to troubled Wrexham.

But the best news of the week is Tranmere finally found an away win! Tranmere comfortably beat Chesterfield, 2-0. Once again Rovers defenders were on the score sheet, wih Mike Jackson putting Rovers ahead, and Roberts capping it all off with a 90-minute-30-yard-screamer!

Tranmere face Swindon at home today (29^th), and next months home games are Bradford (9^th), Gillingham (24^th). Away games are Bournemouth (2^nd), Southend (17^th), Huddersfield Town (27^th).
