After rumours of a take-over earlier in the season seem to have died down, fresh news has reached Total Tranmere today that suggests a new bid is on the cards which if it was to happen could be a big boost to a Club that is going through something of a crisis period at the current time.

Back in May it was Jason McAteer, Steve McManaman and Robbie Fowler who were set to take over the helm at Tranmere Rovers but now, in a new twist, Total Tranmere has learned that a new deal involving new possible benefactors is on the cards.

We announced yesterday that we would not initially publish the names of the potential buyers but as this has begun to leak out from other sources, we can confirm that former Liverpool legends Ian Rush and John Barnes are the names that Total Tranmere has heard are in the frame for a take-over bid.

Whilst the pair will undoubtedly have money between them, their experience of running a football club is untested although the profile of Tranmere Rovers would be much increased if this deal was to take place.

Another question that may be raised in the coming weeks is will we see one of the pair, or even their friend Jason McAteer appointed as Manager of the Club?  McAteer is currently taking his coaching badges at Tranmere and has recently been appointed as assistant to assistant manager John McMahon.

John Barnes has been seen watching Tranmere from the Main Stand on at least a couple of occasions since McAteer signed for the Club so his interest in the Club could be believed.  The investigations of the pair into a possible deal are certain but the likelihood of it happening is still an unknown entity at this time.

As soon as Total Tranmere is able to bring you more news, we will do so, so keep your eyes on Total Tranmere for further developments on this story in the coming weeks.
