As Tranmere entertain League Two side Rochdale in the second round of the LDV Vans Trophy, Total Tranmere brings you all the statistics and team news to keep you in the know prior to the game. Rovers will be looking to build on the League win at Scunthorpe on Saturday.

 

 

Team News

 

Tranmere Rovers will be without Paul Linwood (knee) and new loan signing Simon Francis (cup-tied), for the game against Rochdale.  Steve Davies (knee) has returned to training but is unlikely to feature whilst captain Jason McAteer (knee) is set to miss a further week of action.  Loanee Steven O’Leary is expected to return to Luton after the expiry of his loan deal on Monday.

 

Rochdale are definitely without Warren Goodhind (thigh) and Ernie Cooksey (back) for the game and are also likely to be missing Grant Holt (neck) and Tommy Jaszczun (groin) as both are doubtful after picking up injuries in the 2-2 home draw with Chester City on Saturday.  Veteran Gareth Griffiths returns though for Dale.

Tranmere go into this game on the back of an encouraging 2-1 win away at Scunthorpe in League One last Saturday and will be looking to use the win as a catalyst to hopefully send them through to the third round of the LDV Vans Trophy at the expense of Rochdale.

 

The one problem that Rovers have at the current time is that their away form is better than their home form as they have only managed to win one of their last six games at Prenton Park and that was against Lincoln City of League Two in the last round of this competition.

 

Dale came back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 at home to Chester on Saturday but their recent form has been as inconsistent as Rovers despite a good start to the season.

 

They have managed to win two of their last six games away and have only won twice in their last six both home or away.
