As Tranmere welcome Bournemouth to Prenton Park this weekend in Coca-Cola League One, Total Tranmere brings you all the statistics and team news to keep you in the know prior to the game. Rovers will be looking to make it three home league wins on the bounce after picking up form in recent weeks.

 

 

Team News

 

Tranmere Rovers are definitely without goalkeeper John Achterberg (stomach and shoulder) and Steve Davies (suspension) but most other previously injured players have done some kind of training this week which may mean Delroy Facey makes a return to the line-up on Saturday.

 

Bournemouth have seen James Hayter and Steven Foley return to training after recently picking up injuries and therefore hope both will be available for selection.  Neil Young returns from suspension.

The hosts go into this game on the back of a run of three straight wins and five games in total without defeat, something which earlier in the season would have been unheard of.  Rovers’ latest success came in a 3-2 win over fellow strugglers Rotherham Utd at Prenton Park on Monday in a game which saw two players dismissed.

 

Rovers have now only lost once in their last six games and have also only lost one of their last six games at Prenton Park.  Their opponents Bournemouth on the other hand have only won one of their last six games on their travels.

 

The Cherries drew with Scunthorpe Utd on Monday and currently sit in tenth place but Rovers will be hopeful of continuing their current home run to help them move further away from the relegation zone.

In last season’s encounters between the sides, Rovers took the honours at Prenton Park in December with a 2-0 win thanks to goals right at the end of both halves from Iain Hume and Paul Hall.

 

In the return match at the Fitness First Stadium, Paul Hall struck again for Rovers after just over 20 minutes but the visitors were pegged back by a Mills goal just before half-time.  No further goals were added as Rovers went home with a worthy point.
