Bristol City travel to Prenton Park on Saturday as a team in form and with an outside chance of gate-crashing the end of season play-offs.
For Rovers, the game is probably even more vital as they seek the points they need to stay in League One next season as a dismal season draws to a close. A win should see Rovers safe depending on other results whilst a draw may well be enough but will still leave Rovers sweating somewhat.
Rovers go into this game on the back of a three game losing run following defeats at Rotherham and Colchester and at home to in-form Nottingham Forest. Their opponents on the other hand have four straight wins behind them and had won five of their last four with their only defeat in that sequence coming in the shape of a 3-1 defeat at Millmoor against Rotherham United. Rovers last win was the 3-0 Friday Night victory over Port Vale on March 31st.
Earlier in the season, Rovers were beaten 1-0 by Bristol City at Ashton Gate thanks to a goal in the second half by Luke Wilkshire. In the two meeting last season, City did the double over Rovers with a 4-0 win at Ashton Gate, followed by a 1-0 win in a live TV game at Prenton Park in which Leroy Lita was on target.
Tranmere Rovers: Rovers are without the services of suspended pair Mike Jackson and Steven OLeary. Also missing are John Achterberg (groin), Calvin Zola (groin) and Sam Aiston who picked an injury in the defeat at Colchester on Monday. On loan goalkeeper Matt Murray has returned to training and youngsters Paul Martin, Ollie James and Mike Jones may make the bench after travelling with the squad to Colchester on Monday.
