Total Tranmere Player of the Season Awards

It’s time for Total Tranmere readers to vote for their Player of the Season and Young Player of the Season as well as their favourite Goal of the Season. After a disappointing season that saw Rovers just avoid relegation to League Two, the results of this vote will be interesting to say the least.

 

After a disappointing season for Rovers which has been full of anger, protest and disagreement, it seems odd to be asking fans who their player of the season is but at Total Tranmere we are going to ask you anyway and the results will be published later this month.

 

At the end of this article we’ll tell you how you can vote for the awards which are as follows:

 

1. Player of the Season:

 

In a team that has struggled all season, it’s a difficult task to pick out a player who is worthy of the player of the season this time around.  With last season’s winner and main contenders having departed from the Club, a different person is certain to win the award but who will it be?

 

Will it be Chris Greenacre for his 18 goals (so far) and for his leading of the front-line?  Or will it be one of the defenders who despite some poor results have generally been good for Rovers?  Or maybe you the think the midfield influence of Jason McAteer has helped the team enough for him to warrant the award?

 

2. Young Player of the Season:

 

Which young Rovers player has caught your eye this season?  With the winner of last years award once again having departed from the Club a new name will be on this award too.

 

The emergence in the first team of Carl Tremarco and Steve Davies this term may see them take the award whilst midfielders Danny Harrison and Steven Jennings may have made an impression on some fans.

 

3. Goal of the Season:

 

Last years winner of this award, Gareth Roberts has only scored twice this season but yet again he finds himself in contention for this award thanks his stunning free-kick away at Chesterfield earlier in the season.

 

There are many other contenders, including several efforts from leading scorer Chris Greenacre, with his overhead effort at home to Oldham being a particular favourite with Rovers fans as well as the first goal of his hat-trick against Yeovil at Prenton Park.

 

Delroy Facey’s last-gasp winner at home to Huddersfield also made the Coca-Cola goals of the week and is likely to be another contender.
