McLaren Joins Swelling Squad at Rovers

Tranmere have confirmed that former Rotherham midfielder Paul McLaren has become Ronnie Moore’s sixth summer signing since becoming Tranmere Manager as he signed a two year deal this morning.

 

There was no let-up in the incoming transfer activity at Prenton Park this morning as former Rotherham midfielder Paul McLaren was confirmed as Ronnie Moore’s seventh summer signing.

 

McLaren had been rumoured to be joining Rovers after a proposed move to Rover’s League One rivals Oldham fell through and the signing was confirmed this morning as McLaren put pen to paper on a two year deal.

 

The 29 year old began his career at Luton Town before moving to Sheffield Wednesday.  After a three year spell at Hillsborough, McLaren moved to Rotherham to team up with then Manager Ronnie Moore.

 

McLaren is said to be something of set-piece specialist which is something that Rovers have lacked somewhat since the departure of Ryan Taylor this time last season.

 

Speaking to the Official Website, Ronnie Moore said, “Paul is a very good signing for the Club.  He is a holding midfielder who is very strong from a dead ball and adds experience to the squad.  He has played at Championship level as well as League One and is a great addition to the squad.”
