Tranmere defender Paul Linwood looks set to move to Chester City by the end of this week despite apparently being offered the chance to remain at Prenton Park with a new contract offer.

According to Tranmere’s Official Website, a tribunal will determine the fee for Linwood’s departure as the Bosman ruling for players moving on a free transfer does not apply to players under the age of 24.

What the fee will be is unclear but last season Rovers were paid a fee of £25,000 for striker Chris Dagnall although he was in contract at the time.
