Still things to play for - Alan Kennedy

Kop legend Alan Kennedy is not pessimistic about the Reds current form and he believes they are good enough to overcome their bad run.

He thinks they need to go out and just do what they’ve been doing at home and enjoying their football.

He said:

“All the teams I was part of had bad patches at one time or another, so I'd say they should just go out and play their football and enjoy it,"

"There's no problem at Anfield, they're absolutely great there. They need to have more belief in themselves away from home."

Kennedy says 14 points behind isn’t the end of the world and they still have a lot to play for.

"Win against Middlesbrough, win against City and we're right back in there. But other teams have to lose points, I would say that.

"People say they are out of the title race and it may look like that now. But they will have a big say.

"All the big teams still have to come to Anfield and if we can win those games we will be up there.

"Benitez has been fantastic – he's taken Liverpool to another level. It's now the players who've got to dig in and take themselves to another level."

The former left-back also insists rotation is an essential ingredient in modern football.

"Not every player can be 100 per cent every game so you need to make changes. As long as you've got a core of five or six players - and Liverpool have that."
