Transfer funds available for Reds!

Benitez joined Liverpool FC knowing that they haven’t got all the money in the world to spend like Chelsea. Thus meaning he can’t buy many players to rebuild the squad.

Gerard Houlier left Liverpool after spending over £100 million on what can only be described as a waste of money. Signings such as Hyypia and Heskey have performed for Liverpool where as the signing of Diouf for £10 million was probably his worst signing of the lot. Benitez entered a squad of under performing players and knew he would have to make a few changes. The first player to arrive at Anfield in the summer was the speedy Frenchman Djibril Cisse who was soon followed by three Spaniards.

The future of Michael Owen was uncertain throughout the summer and eventually signed for Real Madrid in a deal which brought Nunez to Anfield.
Alonso, Josemi and Luis Garcia didn’t take long in impressing the Anfield faithful. It was a bad start for Nunez as he got injured in his first training session for the reds. Cisse got off to a great start by scoring on his Premiership debut, but didn’t carry on scoring in each game. His Liverpool career went from disappointing to horrific when he broke his ankle in two places playing Blackburn at Ewood Park, which is a fixture that has become a conspiracy.

Injuries have kept Liverpool from forming some kind of consistency and therefore need to spend in the January transfer window. Liverpool fans were worrying that there would be no money available for Benitez to spend. However the Liverpool board have announced that there will be transfer funds available. Fans will feel that Liverpool need to make many signings especially in the striking department. Liverpool have been linked with a move for Madrid forward Fernando Morientes and Man City Striker Nicholas Anelka.
Both strikers would be great signings for the club but may be put off, especially by the £8 million price tag on Morientes. Madrid have said that Morientes can leave where as Anelka wants to leave City. The keeping place is also up for grabs, as neither Kirkland nor Dudek have impressed yet this season.

Its going to take time for Benitez to get the squad he would like and Liverpool fans appreciate that and trust him because they have seen him do it at Valencia were he won the league twice and won the UEFA cup once in three seasons.
