Scouser, and ex Liverpool player, Jimmy Case, believes that Peter Crouch will be a good signing for Liverpool. Jimmy now works for Southampton radio, and watched every Southampton game last season, so is well qualified to make an assessment.
He thinks that Rafael Benitez has made a very astute signing and he says that Crouch will create havoc to any defence.
Jimmy Case told Liverpoolfc.tv:
"I am an admirer of Peter Crouch and think he is a good signing for Liverpool. He played ever so well for Southampton last season and he is very good on the ball for such a big guy.
"He can win the ball, hold it up and bring others into play. He has a very good awareness about him and playing in the Liverpool team he will only improve as a player as he still learning and not the finished article yet. He has a good touch on the ball and he can get out of tricky situations.
"A lot of people might be surprised that Benitez wanted him so much but it's all about fitting in with the manager's thoughts and I think he will be a good signing for my old club. We had Toshack who was a big lad and Kevin Keegan up front and they did pretty well didn't they! I'm not saying Crouch is the new John Toshack or anything like that but he is a good player and I think will be a success for Liverpool.
"I've watched Peter since he played at Portsmouth and he played with a smaller guy called Mark Burchill. They had a great partnership and scored plenty of goals together.
"If you are looking for a striker who is going to cause defences havoc, can score goals, and bring others into play then there's nothing better around than Peter Crouch."
