Rafa remains positive

Rafael Benitez remains positive after Liverpool were beaten 1-4 by Chelsea, and says his players must also stay positive.. The European Champions are now 17 points behind the Premiership champions but Rafa is looking forward and refuses to dwell on what can’t be changed.

He said:

"I'm not interested in Chelsea or in what they are doing. I am only interested in my team and trying to make sure we improve.

"OK, we're 17 points behind but at this stage it doesn't matter if it's 14, 15, 16 or 17. I am only looking forward to the next game and not talking or thinking about anything else.

"It was a bad defeat but we can take positives from it. We played well in the first half and controlled the game against a good team. How many chances did Chelsea have before the penalty? That shows our plan was working and that we were in control.

"We are playing better than our current results suggest. Sometimes the difference between drawing and winning is only one opportunity. If we played badly against Chelsea I'd be concerned but in the first half we played really well against a team as good as them.

"We can improve, but I don't want to think about the title or how far we are behind Chelsea."
