Liverpool Cruising as Crouch Bags a Brace!

Liverpool cruised to their sixth premiership win today with another convincing display against Wigan which also yielded another clean sheet.

The Reds are on fire at the moment and the place erupted when Peter Crouch opened his account on the 19 minute. The goal may well be put before the dubious goals committee but Rick Parry confirmed that the Anfield record books will credit the goal to Peter.
The Kop certainly agreed as Peter saluted the fans who had kept their faith in him whilst opposition fans sniggered.

If there was any doubt about the first goal there was nothing but admiration for Crouch as he netted the second, a sublime lob over the advancing Pollitt ensured a comfortable half-time lead for the Reds at the break. The second half got underway with the Kop willing the big fella to get his hat-trick in front of them.

However Liverpool needed to defend well as Wigan came out fighting hoping to nick an early goal after the break, Kavanagh going close as his well struck volley drifted inches over the bar.

Morientes saw a header cannon of the bar moments later, and was unlucky later in the game when Pollitt made excellent close range saves from him and Captain Steven Gerrard.

Luis Garcia continued his impressive scoring tally as he managed to divert a Morientes header into the net on the 70th minute.

Liverpool collected their sixth premiership win on the bounce and their eighth clean sheet, but for the in form pollitt the damage could have been much worse for former Kopite Paul Jewell's Wigan men.
