Alonso hopes to make up for loss at Anfield

Xabi Alonso remembers the defeat by Chelsea in October with bitterness and says that Liverpool have to start picking up points away from home again.

He’s hoping a good result against Chelsea will wipe away the bitterness and disappointment of losing to Manchester United in their last away match.

He said:

"It is a very important part of the season for us and we are looking forward to it. We know that if we want to be in the top two we have to beat the top teams and it is a challenge for us," Alonso says.

"The first step is Chelsea away and we know that winning there is really, really difficult. They have drawn only one game at home in the league during this season.

"It is going to be a big game and we hope to be the side to give them their first defeat at Stamford Bridge.

"We have drawn against them twice in the Champions League. We know more or less how to play against them. But at the same time we also know how difficult it is to get a draw against them. We will prepare to try to get the right result.

"We want to make sure it is not another 4-1 as it was for them at Anfield earlier in the season. We have to make it another kind of game and make sure we don't concede so many goals."
