CARRA DESPERATE FOR YOUTH WIN

Jamie Carragher says he would love to see Liverpool’s under 18’s Academy side win the FA Youth Cup as he, part of the class of ’96, did.

Carra said:

"I'm desperate for them to win because the Academy has come in for a bit of criticism over the last few years, which is out of order. It is ten years since we won so it would be nice for them to do it now," he says.

"It's brilliant. If they win it, they'll never forget it. I always say that my Youth Cup medal is up there with my other medals because at that age that's the only thing you can really win that gets any recognition.

"They're playing on Sky so it's a massive thing. At that age, that's their Champions League. To win the Youth cup is a special thing for the club."
