Doncaster Rovers Reserves were in action yesterday afternoon against Darlington and the Youth Alliance cup draw was made.

Doncaster Reserves player Chris Beardsley was the hero of the day after scoring a hat-trick in the 3-1 over Darlington reserves.

Darlington put a side out with a mixture of youth and experience and scored the first goal after 13 minutes thanks to an Adam Green mistake to let Convery chip keeper Stuart Jones from 18-yards out.

Rovers came out after half-time full of confidence and pushed for an equaliser. It came on 54 minutes when Mulligan sent a corner into the box and Chris Beardsley managed to header it into the gap between the keeper and a defender from 6-yards.

Beardsley then put Rovers ahead on 65 minutes when he picked up the ball in the Darlington half, took it past 2 defenders and fired the ball into the net from the edge of the penalty area.

Beardsley then secured victory on 75 minutes by capitalising on a mistake by Chris Mason who latched onto the ball and knocked it in from 15 yards to complete a 21-minute hat-trick.

Final Score: Doncaster Rovers Reserves 3 – 1 Darlington Reserves

Also yesterday, the youth team was drawn away at Preston in the 3rd round of the Football League Youth Alliance Cup and they will play on the 29th of January 2005.
